    general spending included - YES/NO

I would say yes, simply because this is where I was frittering money away without even realising how it all added up. (eg taking more care to freeze milk as nipping to the corner shop and adding on a few treats can add up to nearly as much as a supermarket shop if it's unplanned)
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Hey thanks keren, you've just reminded me that I haven't spent a penny this year either!
Let's see how long I can keep it up for - this could be a thread in its own right.

Aswell as doing the £4k challenge, I want to give myself another challenge of making £1 per day. I know this isn't much compared to the other income per day challenges, but I want to make it achievable so that I stick with it. This time next year, I'll be £365 better off which is a huge amount of extra cash to me. Being disciplined and doing daily clicks should earn about 30p per day (I only do 2 cashback sites cos I just get too bogged down with stuff otherwise); I'll have to get my thinking cap on to earn the rest so your ideas please!

I also want to start a new thread "2008 - financial targets" - I've had a look but can't find anyone else doing one, but I don't know how to do it or which topic to put it in. Help!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Another no spend here so far! Still recovering from last night!:o
Happy New year by the way!

I am still tweaking our budget and as some bills come from oh's account and he feels virgin has been tweaked enough and he needs the internet for his studies and phone for work I am going to have to either leave that out or add to the annual amount. Decided to leave it off so this is what is in:

    Food, drink,
    Cleaning materials
    Vits/meds
    Mobile & ins
    Haircuts
charity donations (includes charity shop spending and regular dd's)
Pets (1 cat and 1 puppy)
Gas/Elec (need to focus on this as quite high)
    Ess Home maintainance
    Ess household good/furnishing
    Gifts and cards
    Hobbies

Todays dinner (just for the two of us) will be taken from the freezer and is turkey, beef, roast potatoes, and parsnips, brussels with bacon and chestnuts, carrots and gravy. All from the leftovers of Christmas day! Even have a couple of crackers leftover to pop on the table.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

    Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£120
  • Yep, I haven't spent anything today so far and don't intend too. Going to see how long it takes before we do actually spend anything. Our cupboards are stocked and there's plenty of xmas/new year leftovers too.

So today its a sausage sandwich for breakfast (I know its 1pm!! but it was a VERY late night last night) and curry for tea which should split into another days portion so we can freeze it.

    Happy New Year everyone!!

I would say yes in general, because we didn't ought to be getting them.
    !

Well if Littlewoods hadn't taken my money out twice I wouldn't have gone over my OD limit. (full details and rant in my new 2008 thread) anyhow If charges are incurred I am able to get a reimbursement from Littlewoods,
Not the best way to start new year when I saw what had happened, so spent half hour waiting to talk to someone at littlewoods over this mess.

I think this is a brilliant idea. We can write our challenges down (as in our siggies, but then keep updating our post throughtout hte year with how we are doing. For those of us doing several challenges it would really help with keeping the length of the siggies down (lil_me said in another thread about how some siggies with more than 4 lines had been deleted recently).

No idea which board that it should go in though, maybe the anything else moneysaving board? :D

    :T HAPPY NEW YEAR :T
Another year waves goodbye and we can forget all the unwise expenditures of 2007 and start a fresh...2008 a fabulous year to get financially sound.

Like most of you, I haven't spent a bean yet this year...gosh we are good. :rotfl:
I have started off the day batch baking and that's dinner sorted for the next four nights. I am taking the dogs out for a good walk this afternoon, free exercise to get my chubby little body moving. I am taking the Xmas tree down as it's getting on my nerves, the first day of 2008 needs to be productive! I am finishing recycling the xmas cards for next years gift tags and will be wrapping a couple of Amazon books to post tomorrow.
I am also signing up for mystery shopping today so I am hoping to make a few extra pounds there and will be drying the washing on airers to save my electric bill.
Hopefully today will be a non spender, I am not planning to spend...but having a teenage son, you never know! I am planning on updating my signature daily...fingers crossed I'm not the first spender of the challenge in 2008 lol.

Finally before I toddle off, a big thanks to NYK for organising this challenge, I can imagine how busy she has been with private messages, repeating the "aims" of the challenge 547 times and updating the members list on an hourly basis. X X :T

Have a great day y'all, looking forward to being thrifty with you. X x Genia X x
