    Cigarettes (if you smoke)

This challenge certainly puts things into perspective.

I quit smoking 15 months ago but at the time I had been on 40 a day for quite a while. I never bought them duty free, so 40 a day at a fiver a pack would have cost me £3660 next year...would not have left much would it? :)

On a positive note, I used some of my Christmas Boots' gift card to stock up on lots of things for the year. I took advantage of lots of 3for2 offers...very happy.

Really looking forward to the New Year and this challenge.

im really excited about this challenge. my year doesnt start until 7th jan though, because of how i get paid but i am getting everything ready in preparation.:)

    good luck everybody!

Regardless of when your financial week begins, keep your notes from 1st January. My year begins on the first day of the year and ends on the last day of the year - 366 days on £4000.

2007 challenged ended in a blaze of glory - in a queue in the Co-op waiting to pay for 2 loaves of brown bread, 2 litres whole milk, 3 litres of semi-skimmed milk and a pack of Paracetamol (just in case!!! :rotfl: ) The total was £5.23 out of the £7 I had in my purse.
    Change - 77p
Phil the Pig got the 27p and I have £1.50 left.

Now drinking whisky and eating Pringles and salsa dip (Pringles only cost £1 in Semi-chem or Co-op had them on BOGOF about a week ago :D )

It's nearly time for the challenge, it's nearly time for the challenge, na, na, na, na, na, na.... nearly time for the challenge :j

I had cut down to about 40 per week in 2007 and am aiming for NIL in 2008. Hopefully my mum will do the same, as that's why I gave her the 'Cash Cow', full instructions and print out of 'The Demotivator' for her Christmas this year :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (If anyone is confused, you'll find the details in Mumzy's mad 'Sealed Pot challenge' or in the 'Papier Mache and other Free Hobbies' threads :D ) The Demotivator is a free tool on MSE - see 'Free Tools' links on right hand side of any page :)

Woo hoo, I'm No 100! :T It's a sign, it's a sign (that it took me ages to commit to this :D). Really looking forward to getting to grips with everything (especially my boyfriend's erratic ways) and seeing how much we can actually save. Good luck everyone! Oh and can I ask, what is a spending diary (as in, is it just something you keep or is it a spreadsheet or something on here?)
