Lil-me, your list reads much the same as mine.

Good luck with the challenge :j

Thanks, I think I might need it  Thinking of doing all that on less than a third of what I have just gave me an attack of the shakes. I am determined however! I didn't do any calculating what I need for each, just worked out what could be on my list that I can make an effort reducing then went for it, oh what the heck it's the 'silly season' after all. Bother! Just realised I have spent £18.25 already.

Good Luck Everyone, and Happy New Year!
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

Oh nightmare. Every time I think that I should actually do something today, I just think that I'll look at the latest comments. 2008 will come and go and I'll just still be looking at this website and not living!
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • My week will run Monday to Monday - I 'll take my money out mondays and go shopping after work.

took my first 50 quid today.

    really nervous!

    Happy New year everyone

I didn't realise that the £4k was not including work petrol or with child benefit on top! I should (with some work) be able to do 4K rather than the £5k I said originally. I am part of the money neutral Christmas challenge as well, so I won't include Christmas either.

Could you please change my aim on your list please?

Ta very much - and a Happy New Year to all (off in a panic now as have friends arriving at 8pm and I'm not ready!!

greet013.gifHELLO! WELCOME! GOOD LUCK FOR 2008!

Well, I have smoked my last ciggy, dropped my last few pennies into 'Phil the Pig', set aside ALL I had left out of my £4000 for 2007 and totalled up how the year has gone. Mainly, you'll be wondering, has it gone according to plan and have I succeeded? Well, the answer is a resounding YES :T :T :T

Out of a budget of £4000, I have the grand total of £1.50 left and this has NOT been put into 'Phil the Pig', this is going to the bank with the first pay-in of 2008 so I can get rid of the pesky odd number in my house challenge.

I did have a major set-back/near catastrophe during 2007, which meant that I HAD to dip into what should have been savings... back in a mo :rotfl:

OK, I'm back again, with a "wee pre-bells Hogmanay dram" to celebrate the end of this epic challenge. During 2007, our landlord of several years suddenly served notice on us to vacate, so we had an unexpected housemove. FORTUNATLEY, we managed to secure a 6 month lease on a house in the exact same street, so incurred no removal fees. However, it did mean having to pay out my share of the deposit, which came to £475, but this will be returned eventually, so is really just in safe-keeping.

Now that I have totally blown my cover in the town where I live, (yes, we are the ones who carried the furniture up and down the street!!), I'd just like to say that we are not all insane, we are just very cash conscious. Carrying a small, half-full aquarium up the main street is 'normal' in our world and, if I save enough to buy a house locally, the exact same will happen all over again! :rotfl:

I'd just lke to say that despi9te several setbacks that befell each of the occupants of this household during 2007, we have all survived. In total, within my wacky homesharing lifestyle, the occupancy numbers here have changed three times, there have been 4 house moves in total, one car written off and 3 new businesses started (if I count my own 2008 challenge to start a cottage industry and earn extra from home). It has been a very eventful year! Luckily, the new house has a garden and a garage, so homegrowing food is now an option, as is creating a massive papier mache pig in the empty garage, but that is another story completely.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO HAVE JOINED ME IN (YEAR 2 OF) MY CHALLENGE

Spending records begin on 1st January 2008
Spending records end midnight on 31st December 2008
It doesn't matter how you run your weeks
ONE Final word of warning (ok, 2 WORDS!) BE PREPARED!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR FRUGALERS!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
