    Evening all :p

    Hope you're all well...

My girls (kittens) have just got 'big' teeth... and they know how to use them lol.. and they're getting too big to swing on my (mostly naked) legs by their claws :o

I spent last night on some wierd casino site which gave me £10 free play.. and i ended up winning £897!! i quit while i was ahead..

not spent anything since sat and i've banished my visa debit card to a dark cupboard...

Oooh! Do spill. I spent a looong time this evening in one of the bingo sites (got £15.- free play) and won nothing! Have done couple of surveys so not completely wasted evening. Also sent a bid for translation work with a sample so fingers crossed I will get the job. The bidding ends on Wednesday so hopefully will hear by the end of the week.

Talking about wine I must say that I seem to crave a glass of wine in the evenings after I have managed to get LO to bed. Thanks to this challenge I am stricter in buying it as I would add it into total expense if (when) I bought some. So am eating chocolate instead. I might try to buy some sparkling water and lemon to drink in the evenings to replace more unhealthy and expensive addictions.

Heading now to watch the news as don't have a clue what is going on in the world. Night night.

I can't believe that win CA, are you joking? I'd be seriously jumping for joy! Fantastic news if it's real! :T

I don't drink at the mo - I gave up on 30th Dec and am not having any til June. I drink fizzy water with limes squeezed into it, v refreshing, drank loads of it in India so brings good memories too. Or occasionally I splash out and buy Elderflower cordial which is lovely; I don't miss the alcohol at all so far.

Nice one Nyk, how many days are you hoping for? I'm not sure how many I'll manage this month but I'm going to try as much as possible. My trip to the charity shops has given me a taste for it though, but I've promised myself I'll only go on a Spend Day.

Anyone not including alcohol in their target? Not that I am suggesting bad things about anyone; just interested in hearing about frugal side-effects..[/quote]

Since I started lurking my booze bills have gone right down and I'm very pleased about that. Same goes for chocolate. It works best for me if I count them as basics; if I called them luxuries and didn't include them in the budget, my consumption would rise and my bank balance would fall!

Evening all, I haven't a clue where today has gone and didn't spend any cash other than the direct debit. Read the wine quandary and can't really add anything to it as I seldom buy alcohol. I have plenty in the house from previous gifts, just nobody here to drink it.

On the subject of snow, it was white here this morning, but it had all melted by about 9ish, so no opportunity for snowman building. :D Still bitterly cold, which is why I ended up ordering another small oil-filled radiator for the 'office'. I work from home, so couldn't decide if this should be classed as a business expense or not? After much serious thought, I have decided that since it is only going to be used whilst working, and only within space set aside for working, that it is a business expense, so does not affect my spending here. The electricity, however, is all included in my 4k household budget.

Did anyone see Wife Swap last night? I'd have had the Devonshire farmhouse over the civvy street new build villa any day, but I had to agree with Mrs Civvie street about the rificulous cost of organic... Mr T's organic chickens that I saw yesterday were £12+ EACH!!

Is tomorrow Premium Bonds results day? Good luck any of you maddies out there who have some... including me! :D

Bails - according to my diary I have direct debits due out on 3rd and 7th and that's it for this month. I know I'll spend at Easter because we are wanting to take DGD to the local animal park plus I'll either go visit parents or else they'll be coming to stay here. I am going to attempt at least a full week without spending and hope to spend on no more than 8 days out of 31. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.

    Hi Everyone
Hope you all have a good (and frugal) day:D
Nothing exciting planned here for today so hope to manage a no spend day if possible. I also need to contact work and book a day's holiday today if possible as I am almost up to the deadline for my OU assignment and not completed it yet:o - need to stop finding excuses to not do it and get on with it:rolleyes: . It costs too much to not do it once I have paid out.

On the alcohol front if I bought any I would include it in my shopping budget but I usually get enough bottles of Baileys and wine bought for me by my oldies each xmas to last till the next year so never need to buy any:D - not a big drinker anyway.

Morning all, a little quiet on here?

My dad just phoned me up to say he needs to reorder his oil and did I know anywhere cheaper - I offered (again) on Mothers Day to overhaul their finances and he actually listened this time it seems :D The thing was it needed to be ordered TODAY as they're very low! Still, I did manage to get them a cheaper deal (although perhaps not the best ). At least the message is trickling through though...

I'm trying to work out the best way forward with my biggest expense ie the mortgage. ATM it's interest only  and I'm trying to work out if I can possibly afford to make it repayment - it has an offset account with it so I could put my savings in there to reduce the interest; does anyone know if there's a calculator to check what's best? *goes off to look...*

  • Just adding up my totals for Feb although not looking forward to posting them, especially with DH's £90 blow out on nothing while I was laid up after having my tonsils out. Just a quick questions to quidco users; how long does it normally take for the money to be deposited in your bank or paypal account? It says I was paid on March 1st but it hasn't been deposited in my bank account yet:confused:
