    Hi all!

I've been ill this week so haven't been on here, and I'm trying desperately hard to catch up on all your lovely posts:D

I'll update later as I have to pop over to my DD to see my other DD to catch up a wee bit. Anyhoo....I just wanted to let you folks know that I have just made the final payment on one of my c/cards. I paid off £924, after swapping it to a 0% card, over the last six months!!:T I'm really chuffed with myself and thanks to this site which has made me recognise the error of my ways:D

I have now to pay off £1,974.02 on a 0% card by Nov'08 so wish me luck!:A

I'm in work this evening but will pop on to give my figures and update you all.

    Toodle pip for now! x

    Hi CharliesAngel!

I think you have already joined and we just haven't got you a challenger number yet! Would you like to be number 138? You'd be the first to join with a target of under £1000, that's for sure! :D You could be the example of how to slash the cost of living for all of us here who are aiming to become rent & mortgage free!
:T :T :T Come on CA, you know you want to  :j

lol it would be rude not to... Under £1000 sounds good to me.

£5 went on leccie this morning
£3 (2.98) on cat food for the week (8 tins 1 tin a day, even though they could eat the whole lot in one sitting!)
Still got 5 jars of pasta sauce in the cupboard and enough (wholemeal) pasta and tuna from last week to keep me going.. forgot about them! Not to mention 12 cans of 15p beans in the cupboard... might even have a late breakfast fry up of cheese omelette, beans, waffles (from aldi, been in the freezer forever) and some bacon (88p from co-op) :j

Total spend for next week £8.86

I went on pigsback and got free fabric conditioner on its way and signed up to lovefilm for a month free trial with £8 cashback! I might go mad with the cash and buy some new shoes! Seen some nice pump type things in asda for £6.. then again, I might just put it towards the 'having the kittens done' fund..

I've not gone over my overdraft limit this month, a minor miracle! :T

Oh Mother Nyk forgive me for I have transgressed the cardinal rules of succesful frugalling. :o
When I entered the great shiny beckoning shopping emporium AKA Mr T I confess

    1. I was hungry.
    2. I had DH in tow
    3. My Debit Card had sneaked from its cage and was snuggled softly in the folds of my purse.

    :rotfl: Uh-oh

Hmmm my 'spend no more in feb' challenge has very rapidly descended into a 'spend a lot more in feb' challenge. Whoops.

i was out at the jumble sales again yesterday....
but i did get many useful things, like a pie dish and a rolling pin,

and some, erm, not so useful things like a 1930s childrens shoe box (in my defense its very kitsch and probably i could resell it for a profit :D)

and i got a million other things too

anyhoo i have just sold my first thing ever on ebay - the floodgates are now officially open! Plus I have started doing pigsback.

So all in all im not tooooooooo naughty!

Aww it can't be that bad surely? I hope the maths weren't too traumatic... here's to next week :j

  • Just thought I'd casually sneak back into the thread as I managed to get sidetracked (slice the pie addiction). I have completely lost the plot, and have no idea how much I've spent this year, though I have the majority of my receipts written up now just need to get the faithful calculator to work.

I managed to get my disability living allowance claim awarded for my older son, who possibly has autistic spectrum disorder, so that is going to make eveything a lot easier, for the first time in years I can afford to pay all my bills instead of juggling.

Got loads of bank charges though so had to move banks sharpish, all over a £5 direct debit!

Despite the fact I'm ok financially I am still determined to keep my expenses down as much as poss, I was ever so excited the other day in Mr T's when I discoverd I could get 8 tins of heinz baked beans for £2, and 160 tea bags for £1.41, so I've been stocking up and hopefully the cost will offset itself in the future months.

I've decided that all my cab fares shouldn't be included as they are a necesity to get the kids to school. my little one who's atshmatic (can't spell it), refuses to walk/tantrums/sitting down on wet pavement screaming + bad weather + me getting stressed when 10 min walk takes 60 minutes = necessity, plus the fact that that's what I applied to DLA for, help with travel expenses to school and stuff.

So, i'm going to go and attempt to add up all my money for the year again now, hopefully i'll be within budget:confused:
    Payment a day challenge: £236.69
    Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
    Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/15000

mini-huny-money i saw you asking a q about plumbing courses in glasgow have you tried langside college they have loads of lifestyle classes on there i would give them a wee phone maybe ...or caley or the met they all do these classes i have seen basic car maintenace classes so plumbing shouldnt be impossible

Thanx for that Elantan, Langside College would be ideal as its fairly near OH's, am off out to spend the afternoon with OH and his daughter, turning my back on all the stuff that needs doing in the house and walking out!!!!!

Yesterday was a NSD for me.....the first in ages and today will probly be one too, though unintentionally.

, I have 3 bank accounts that I use and only transfer (online) enough money into my household one( which is the only account Ive got a card for) to do me for a couple of days. I find that helps me to stop taking out too much. Unfortunately I forgot to transfer anything over on Friday, and have got just a few pence in that account. I'll be able to get at it tomorrow cos Ive just transferred money over . Oh well looks like any spending thats gonna be done will be from OH.....hehehehe

Loving the posts this morning! :D I want a kitsch 1930s shoe box too (although I have no idea why ) - down 'Want It Dog', you will be silenced!

Something miraculous happened this morning - my OH sent me a (free) text to say that he was charging his phone and iPod on the train on the way home :T:j By jove, I think he may have got it! Watch this space, I could soon be having gnat-bottom stakes competitions too! :rotfl:

I am having a serious bout of EWAD at the moment - each time I have to put something in the bin it physically hurts, and now I have a huge pile of 'rescued' stuff I'm not quite sure how to reuse  The answer is of course to bring less of it into the house in the first place but sometimes this conflicts with frugalism - packaged stuff can bizarrely be cheaper. This might turn into one of those 'weighing up the pros/cons'. Obviously as I can become more self-sufficient my waste will also reduce enormously but this will be a long-term process. I think I may pledge to do something on here, maybe once a month, to help - so my pledge for March is to get my blummin' breadmaker out and learn how to make some bread! Hm, this will save on plastic bread bags/packaging, but I'll then be left with flour bags - still, they're an improvement at least... Help Nyk! The long-term upside of all this frugalistically is that I'll be laughing when the bin weighing charges come in :D

Funbrum, that is fantastic news about paying off that debt, go you! :T Hope you are feeling better now. And welcome officially to the challenge CA.
