I think you've misunderstood me, perhaps it's my fault for not being clear.

I don't have anything against you or freeganism per se, and think it could be quite interesting, but what I was agreeing with whitewing about was the fact that, given one thread on the topic has already been deleted, we don't want to risk the same thing happening here. I don't know what happened to the other thread, but I feel very strongly that this one needs protecting.

    Hope that helps.
  • Hi all and welcome to the new and returning challengers!

My parents took me out for a huuuge lunch today and left a charity package of loads of nice chocolate, nuts, dried fruit, crisps, crackers, teabags etc so I'm looking forward to supplementing my lunches with all that! Plus it will save me on buying snacks for when people come over! Had a really nice day :)

Off for free drinks and a free comedy show tonight, who says you need to spend money to have a good time eh? Though there may be some additional spends on alcohol :p

Have a nice saturday night everyone xx

Spent £230.22p this month so far - and that includes the pet food, pet insurance, telephone and broadband!

Changing from BT to Talk Talk next month - that should save around £10/month. Also changing gas/electric suppliers - should save at least £5/month plus £30 cashback from www.moneysupermarket.com

    evening all

well a spend of 23.81 today and thats me food wise untill i move, was bits for the next 6 nights and it has to last, i planned what i brought around whats in cupboards to use up and passed the rest to my neighbour simply as for what was there its another packing box i need to find

once i move i wont need a huge store of things as asda is on my doorstep so less chance of waste its going to buy strictly buy what i need and thats that (there is also 6 cupboards in kitched and 2 of them are under sink) which doesnt leave alot of food storage space.

sold my freezer yesterday on ebay within 45 mins of it being listed now im wondering if i sold it just that bit too cheaply but its sold so thats the bonus at least it was sold and just not left behind plus what i go paid for some of the fridge freezer i have to buy

thats me and the ebaying finished untill after ive moved but tbh i wont have much when i get to the new house, ive made more on ebay this month than i have spent so feeling chuffed plus im getting clutter free.

hope you have all had a good day, im on no spends now untill i buy train tickets on thursday (and i really begrudge paying 34 quid but last time i will have to)

Hi Lingojingo, the other thread was deleted because it got dragged into the topic of religion, which is a 'banned subject', from how I understand the rules of MSE. In light of what has already happened, I'd say that frugality is for all, regardless of race, creed or religion and I would be the first to report a post that I thought inappropriate to this challenge. At the very least, I would request the originator edited or deleted the inappropriate section ir dealt with their problem directly via PM rather than on the public boards. Please PM me if you need further clarification, thanks :)

:T :T :T :T WELL DONE to Andromach (hope you enjoy your weekend), Fizzel, PaulV and Slowlyfading.

Now that we are heading for the final week of February, it's feeling more like the run up to March, if you see what I mean. :D Tuesday will be 8 weeks since starting this challenge and I, the seasoned 4k frugalite, have found it far tougher this year than last year, firstly because of the hike in electricity prices and secondly because of more hikes in the electricity prices. If I could live without electricity, this would become a 3k challenge! :rotfl:

Hello again. I am now officially over my strop!

I am really pleased that even this well into the challenge, we are still getting new people joining in. It's exciting!

I was at work today so sent OH, MIL and DS to Lidl's to do a monthly shop. They spent yesterday evening doing a bit of meal planning. So off they went...I nearly had a heart attack when I realised that I hadn't stipulated a maximum budget !!!!!!!!!

Guess how much they spent  ...........................
    .......................................................................

a mere £85, and £10 of that was on washing powder and non-food stuff. I will be most impressed if they can make it last 4 weeks.

Very, very tired now (that'll be the phantom pregnancy; I even feel the phantom baby move most days)

Real baby 'challenge' is rarely getting beyond a sultry look at the moment because we're so busy with everything that's going on at the moment. Can't actually imagine what it would be like to have another little fella around.

Next week, I need to get organised and I must put more effort into recruiting more customers for my business, otherwise I am really going to struggle. I've pottered around with it as a semi-hobby for too long but now is the time to get serious.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

We were hoping it was just the hormones talking through your phantom pregnancy. :T Now we know everything is fine and that MIL & OH can manage a frugal shop - was that all foodstuffs, toiletries & cleaning stuff?

Re the finding customers for your new business, we could discuss that on the 'start a cottage industry' thread. I had mine in my signature, but lost it in the revamp because I had no space left. Will find you the link and post it here. I am assuming we'll be able to talk about HOW to go about finding customers etc if we are setting up home based 'cottage industry' style businesses? Difficult to tell what's allowed these days. Seems you just say a word and the object appears, bit like Beetlejuice. Hmm.... customers, customers, customers! :rotfl: Let's see what happens now! :D

    I'm back >>> here's the link!<<<

  • May I ask what you do, Whitewing or does it go against thread rules? Could you use the promotions thread to tell us? Just being nosey!

I've had an intensely "interesting" week - family "stuff" - so spending has been far too high. Shall have to cut back somehow later.

LBM - !! I managed to only use 6 logs today instead of the usual 15 ... does that count, Janey51?!

Anyway, logs burnt, off to bed - it's warm and my book is calling me.

all the very best to everyone on their Frugal journeys
