I'm totally addicted to this thread! And even though I'm not in the challenge I'm so inspired that I'm following lots of the advice and my spending has halved. :T
Hi redglass & many thanks for posting & for the tip, thats brilliant news that you've halved your spending! Really well done :T Hope to see you on the thread again soon0 -
:THi Guys,
Big hugs to everyone having a bad day. Tomorrow will be better!
Thank you oopsadaisy for your comments regarding the Simply Bingo. Unfortunately the winnings plus their input has disappeared completely from my account.
Mollymop5 here is the recipe for the Lentil and Potato Bake (I don't usually measure anything, so have given approximate measurements). Peel and cook about 5/6 average sized potatoes and then either mash or cut into thick slices. Chop a couple of onions and fry in a little oil. Add about 300g red split lentils and coat in oil. Add enough vegetable or chicken stock to just cover lentils and cook for about 15mins, stirring occasionally until stock is absorbed. (You could add some hebs such as chopped parsley and/or chopped tomatoes depending on budget). Spread lentil mixture in a lightly greased dish and cover with mash or overlapping sliced potatoes. Sprinkle grated mousetrap cheese on top of potatoes and bake for about 25-30mins at gas mk6 200degreesC.
Thanks to everyone for keeping me motivated. NSD for me today (at last!!!)
Am going off to tackle the ironing (my pergatory), as have only sent difficult stuff to be ironed this week by my wonderful 'ironing lady', so should be much cheaper than last weeks £25.00. Anyway I hope so as already spent £76.00 out of my £86.00 per week!.0 -
Hi everyone!
Even though I'm not doing the challenge I can't resist popping in on a daily basis to see how you're all getting on and you're doing brilliantly! You're certainly keeping me all inspired not to spend unnecessarily and I've had 4 NSD on the trot.
For those buying frontline for their cats I've found www.petdrugsonline.co.uk to be excellent. No p & P and there's a freephone number if you prefer to order that way.

PS Just had another thought [don't have many I'm afraid!]. Would it be worth investigating if there are any decent mobile hairdressers in your area? We do this and it saves us a fortune especially if it's just for a cut. Their prices "should" be cheaper as they don't have the salon overheads and you get to make compost from your own hair [well I do but then I am rathe a strange one!!]Aiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!0 -

I went through something similar when I was paying off my debts when I worked out that i owed nearly £800 more than I thought & it is pretty gutting I know especially when you've put every effort into reducing the debt. But please please don't give up with it, you will catch back up soon enough, when I read your post on the previous page I felt so proud of you & what you've achieved & you sounded really happy, content & proud of yourself too
So what I wanted to say was keep up the good work, you're doing so well on this challenge, don't give up & one day you will achieve your dreams
xx
Hiya, thankyou so much, iam so proud of myself but i get upset if u will when something sets me back like today. Iam proud i have paid 2 debts off today even tho i have found myself i owe 300 more than i did when i first joined due to stupid lloyds. But today i have sorted my oh's littlewoods out and told them we will pay £35 a week (balance £350) and i have lloyds sorted now by paying them £70 a month. Iam proud iam sorting all my debts out, i want a better life..i want to go out and by all the things i would like to buy and pay for them out right. I want my children not to go with out and want them to have things they like (but not spoil them). I think anyone who is around my age (20) and is sorting there debts out should be proud..i dont think alot of people my age do sort there debts out. I want to have a morage..and get out of rented and live my life i want it. I wish i had never ever got into debt..But without the catalogue or c/c i wouldnt of been able to afford anything when my ex left me and the kids to find a new home (all in a day) i just wouldnt of survived i had no furniture so i do know how easy it was to get into debt.

Just been reading through this thread about "Building Blocks", food you freeze that makes other food (does that make sense?)
Anyway there are lots of great ideas in there that might help with our yearly budget. (Not that I have any room left in my four drawer freezer!)

Hya everyone......Is this bad Day Wednesday?????, and I guess till the next payday, we all might be having a few more bad days........at tthis time of the year my glass is half empty rather than half full......:rotfl: literally .....not just in my head!!!!!
So tired today, didnt realise why until I realised when I went to work, everyone was feeling the same, due to the gale force winds battering most of Scotland last night, hardly anyone slept welll. No noticeable damage to my place, had a quick look outside when I got back from work.....
eventually. Traffic was horrendous due to most of the road bridges being closed,..... no slates missing just half my wheelie bin contents strewn over the garden....
25 pounds spent in ALDI and 8 pounds in farmfoods, but that;s everything for the week, well, hopefuly till next Thursday and included soap powder, toilet rolls and am afraid.........my glass isnt really half empty....... a bottle of cheap plonk......
and Ive been so good and following the no alcohol in January thread......you can tell I havent joined it, just lurking........cheerio hen0 -
I lost some of my fence and a slate off the roof, stayed in today too when I heard there was wood coming off of some of the local shops roofs.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Hi All! :j
Well, it happened again.
An impromptu lunch - and therein another unbudgetted expense  :rotfl:
Still, she ate heartily, looked happy and somewhere, somehow (cue Barbara Streisand) I'll claw it back.
Already damned tomorrow - unexpected 'business' lunch - just not business-y enough to put on company expenses.
Then early evening cocktails with family member (although I've sourced a bar doing superb cocktails at 1/2 price! :rotfl:)
Then dinner with lover.
Then theatre.
Then after-theatre drinks. (Lover's buying 1 of them)
Tomorrow stands a good chance of wiping out my weekly budget in a day (easily)
.
Am I down about it?
Am I stressed?
No.
Life does this sometimes and the fun I'll have over the next few weeks trying to figure out how to bring it all back into balance is exhilarating! :rotfl:
Keep on keeping on, all - and HUGE hugs to those who had a tough day today. Personally I think that's great 'cause somewhere something has gotta give and the good's gotta come round! :rotfl:
Plus, who ever said the right way was the easiest way? Personally, I've often found the right way is the way that challenges us the most, the path that helps us grow and right when you think you've hit a brick wall, voila, if you keep on going, something shifts!
Just like when we all found MSE :j
