  • WOW!! January! Where on earth does the time go?!

I have been really busy at work and had a promotion which has been good.  Currently half way through a course and looking at doing another.

Have been busy with my littlest grand daughter, who will be 2 in December, so cute and a funny little thing  <3

I have been in and out of my pot most of the year, which on one hand has been helpful when needed and then frustrating when I realise that I have only got £49 saved up.

I have finished paying my car loan so I will be able to divert some money to my Christmas pot.

Has anyone started spending their pot or started a food stash?  This weekend I have bought a box of chocolate biscuits and a tub of chocolates. I think I will get some of the pickled bits next.

Well done to those of you who have managed to hit your targets, amazing job :)

Huge thanks to @Brie for creating and updating the list.

I hope to be on here a little more often, especially now that there is a 'ber' at the end of the month :D

I need to update my pot on the first page, so off to do that.

    Catch you all soon :)

  • #4 checking in - just put my last contribution into the pot so a total of £365 saved and ready to spend over the Christmas holidays.

Think I may try two pots next year!  I had a pay rise this year so it should be doable.

Glad to see a group of folk planning for Christmas.   My Christmas 23 is fully funded.  We are going out for Christmas dinner, deposit paid and the balance being covered by a train ticket refund.  I have the money for the presents set aside.  Christmas 24 presents already funded and sat in a notice account.  I don't spend a massive amount on Christmas.  I believe in setting a budget in all spending regardless of whether it is Christmas spending or other.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
  • #14 pot now stands at £1200/£1500, hoping to have it complete in the next month.
  • #23 adding £50 - now on £800. I think I'm going to close out the year's savings here, as I'll start keeping my eyes out for bargains from start of November onwards. This has been great and I'll be back next year! :)
