Or you could pay ctax by DD, get santander cashback, at the same time saving the taxpayer money.
How much would the council get charged for a DD compared to DC/CC?

I use my American Express credit card because it gives me Avios points. I've saved up over 125000 Avios which I've just discovered I can exchange for Nectar points & which have a value of £900. Happy days.
0.7p per point isnt a great cashout rate... not sure why you'd collect Avios if you prefer Nector
I collect Avios even though I don't fly. It's a bummer that BA have dropped the conversion rate from effectively 0.8p per Avios to 0.67p, but even so the free Avios Barclaycard is still a market leader for a non-Amex card.

From what I can see the 1p+ valuations rely on comparisons with cash tickets which I'm not sure many would honestly pay for if they didn't have Avios points. By contrast Argos and Ebay are often market leaders on price - so while the 0.67p valuation might seem poor it is at least more likely to be a genuine saving.

I'm not knocking the game of 'getting most value from loyalty points' btw, I do it a bit myself with hotel points and whatnot, but it is usually not genuinely money saving.
