Everyone else has had long dates on a switch ....pfpf said:7 working days for a switch?
using my nationwide details it states earliest switch date is 8th December. using barclays its 30th November. anyone else getting long dates on a switch?1 -
..just out of interest, do you mean "everyone" as in all who apply for a cop-op account or all banks are taking longer to complete switches? i only ask as i can't actually find any other co-op threads about opening a new account/switches.
thanks.0 -
I think it's because Co-op Bank want new account holders to have their card and PIN before they initiate the switch.bristolleedsfan said:

If you apply without switching, you can then ring and arrange a switch in the normal 7 working day timeframe. Whether or not this affects eligibility for the offer, I don't know. I personally wouldn't risk it and I'd just accept the delay.1 -
Coop has policy for long switch dates, somewhere I think it is when applying for switch it explains it is so that cards and Pins etc have arrived.pfpf said:..just out of interest, do you mean "everyone" as in all who apply for a cop-op account or all banks are taking longer to complete switches? i only ask as i can't actually find any other co-op threads about opening a new account/switches.

My Nationwide switch to them had same timescale as you quoted for Barclays,
Earlier in thread there was mention of previous £50 Co-op Bank referral offer, long switch dates the same as now.

Yes, can confirm, I personally experienced it and remember others mentioning it also.bristolleedsfan said:

Yes I can confirm previously when I recommended my sister in April 2022 and husband in November 2021, both were 3 weeks for switches.
I've applied tonight (as switched out 3 months ago) and given date 30/11, I'm switching a Santander.1 -
There's absolutely no requirement in the offer to set up the switch during the account application, and this cannot be done online if you opt for the Everyday Extra account, which is part of the offer, not that I imagine many would be going for that.WillPS said:

Good point; my thinking was that it might affect your ability to get the payout without chasing/complaining but thinking about it given this scheme requires a manual claim at the end of it I doubt it's an automated eligibility check in any case.masonic said:

I was handed this leaflet whilst in Co-op Bank last week. Interested for a relative, they advised we would need to make an appointment? We can arrange this if we really have to (relative has difficulty with mobility and we would need to take the wheelchair with us). I should have asked at the time but can this switch process not be done on line (I haven't done one before) ?
Additionally, relative would not require an overdraft. Im hoping you are not obliged to agree to one on the premise of being approved ?0 -
There is no need to apply for an overdraft, and if you apply for the standard current account the account application and switch can all be done online.spaniel101 said:I was handed this leaflet whilst in Co-op Bank last week.
