Well I'm still alive. 

All the paperwork for the house sale has arrived at the solicitors today, hoping to exchange tomorrow and completion is planned for Friday.

This has been the WORST summer holidays I can remember having. It's rained almost constantly, I've done nothing, gone nowhere, just worked and been poor while people on my socials holiday in Alicante, or do festivals, or just have. a. life. And I'm still beyond fed up of continuing to put one foot in front of the other. 

I've got a funny story for you. The van is STILL broken. And we couldn't afford to hire a car, but had to pick up the kids. So Mr Fox's mum lent us her car. The next day, Mr Fox set off, and about 20 minutes later my phone rang. The car we borrowed had broken down - turns out the clutch had pretty much burned through. Am debating getting a horse and cart, as it might be cheaper than all the vehicular trouble we seem to accrue. 

My daughter has gone to stay with my friends back in my home town until Thursday. So at least she got to do something-  they're going to London Zoo today. Her dad has seen her for 2 days since the start of July. He is still as exhausting to deal with as ever. 

I had last week off work, ostensibly for the move, but that didn't come together in time. I've given up on packing things nicely - initially it all started very well with each box labelled with what was in the box, but now it's just "kitchen STUFF" and "STUFF from drawers". Feeling quite panicky at this point about the prospect of moving, which is rather silly. I mean, it's what we all want, and it will be really good for us as a family. But I've not been INSIDE the house, only walked around the outside, and I am nervous. I'm also worried that something will go wrong and it won't all go through. This is third time lucky situation now. I am quite enjoying how minimally we have been living for the last week though - it turns out that I probably could declutter more than I have so far. Pretty much our whole lives are boxed in half of the 20x14 cabin, but I still feel like I could reduce that more. 

It also feels weird that if all goes ahead, aside from Stepchange, I could pay off all my other debts. And then only have the one monthly payment to Stepchange, and actually be able to create a functional budget. And we are going to have a car again! (this is up there as the MOST exciting thing, because I am sick of walking everywhere, and sick of having to fuel up a 3.5t van anytime we want to go anywhere... that is when the van is actually functional).  And I will have emergency savings! UNHEARD OF.

The lady that lived in the house prior was supposedly a heavy smoker. So I need tips and tricks for getting nicotine stains out of the plastic in the conservatory. And advice on whether I am mental to consider just NOT having carpet anywhere in the house? I'm thinking vinyl & rugs might be the way to go - especially with an accident prone adult (me) and accident prone child (my daughter) and the dog. And any pros/cons to having a peninsula in a kitchen (as we don't have room for an island).

Anyway, sorry for leaving it so long to update friends. Thank you for thinking of me
