    Well done to your stepson!

There's nothing wrong with venting, please don't delete for our sake. Those things are part of the picture and your anger is valid: hiding the reality from us doesn't change it. I know PMT doesn't help at all but it's also a real part of the pressures you have to bear.

If your husband really feels guilty, he'll get a job, even if it's a few hours a week to pay for his smokes. Cleaning and cooking is nice, but only if it lasts.
Exactly this ☝🏻 - pls keep posting Fox - congrats to stepson on the new job and hope it guilts Mr Fox into gainful employment of his own.

Pleased to hear that you came back yesterday to a clean kitchen & a meal cooked for you. A much better homecoming than the previous day. Please do keep posting, vent if you want to, as much as you like, you need to get things off your chest & not bottle them up.

Agree with dawnybabes re working dog food - it is very economical compared to most other brands. The one I'm thinking of is W@gg. As it's aimed at working dogs, it might satisfy your dog's appetite.

Weekly contribution is currently set at £40 a week. He has to get himself through driving lessons etc. It's £160 more a month than I had before, so I shan't complain. If he is out 5 days a week working he will have less time to sit around and eat and use electricity.

I will put my foot down at his ex girlfriend and baby coming to stay for more than 2 nights though. I cannot keep feeding this many people, and if he is going to be in work, then it will be just Mr Fox and ex-GF at home with the baby for a week. And there is limited point in the baby being there, if not to interact with its father.... I think a lot of the people in my life are opening their mouths without engaging their brains.

Mr Fox went to buy dinner earlier as he said he wanted to cook for when I get home. He got a 2 person lasagna and thought it would be enough for the four of us. Suppose he was rather shocked by the price, bless him.

  • Fox, why is his EX girlfriend coming to stay at all, can’t he have the baby one or evenings without her? And why are you expected to feed them all, it sounds like stepson has learnt from his dad that you will do everything for everyone with little in return. You are worth so much more than this.
  • Fox, glad you’re feeling better today and please use this to vent. I’m going to ignore the stepson/hubby stuff, as you can probably imagine my view and they should be blessing you!

What I will say is please look after yourself if you’re feeling fed up with life. Speak to your GP about talking therapy’s, chat to your friends or speak to the mental health first aiders at work. I really think you could benefit so much from some counselling, does your work provide a hotline for these things? I think lots of councils do.

I do think you’ll have a better relationship with money if you have some counselling about the rest of your life and how you are feeling. I don’t know you but I think I’d feel completely overwhelmed in your situation with so many people leaning on you. You need some support.

I hope he at least went to a supermarket and not an expensive local shop! Maybe you should get him a cooking on a budget book out of the library 😉

Sorry to hear you’re feeling rough. Could you go for a run the van with the pup on Friday?x
