I’ve checked my paperwork, it doesn’t say anything about removal. Probably would have been an extra had I known to ask…
Anyway I’ve enough to cover the living room (in 3 pieces) held down by furniture, then the laminate is coming up in the spring. Himself likes it but I’m not keen!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0 -
Decent sized off cuts are great on a cold garage floor.

Aww we’ve no garage. I’ve kept the big big pieces and the rest are in the bin.Henry survived! Had to empty the bag twice but he got there.Another question now though if I may? Hoovering the hall + stairs + landing felt fine. Hoover the spare room was bladdy hard going, the carpet was kinda coming up to meet the hoover head itms? It’s different (thicker) carpet to the rest but it’s all the same same stuff. Does this sound right to everyone?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0

I wouldn't have been happy, at all, if they'd left that in my home.
Of all the occasions i've had new carpets i've never, once, had that state of affairs left for me.
No, wouldn't be happy at all.2 -
The only thing that's bad here, is that you clearly didn't know what to expect. They SHOULD have made it clear from the start so you wouldn't be surprised or disappointed, and would also be able to compare quotes on a like-to-like basis.
It's not good enough to expect laypeeps to know this sort of stuff; it should be made clear. Cost of removing and disposing of old stuff. Cost of removing all surplus materials. Cost of hoovering up all debris, and leaving the site clean and tidy - that sort of thing.
When mil had new lvt flooring put down recently - a really competent job at a very good price - she was nevertheless disappointed to find the floor was coated in what looked like white talc! I'm guessing it's to catch any extruded glue? But, whatevs, it needed quite a bit of hoovering and multiple wipes with damp floor cleaners. She was all set to leave glowing reviews, but that was enough for her to not bother. It was more the unexpectedness of it that surprised, and left some disappointment.
If you are otherwise pleased with the work, then an honest and balanced review is in order.1 -

Our experience of carpet fitters has varied. When we had the first carpet laid through the hall, stairs and landing, the fitter left all the decent size offcuts and took away everything else. That proved very useful when the bottom tread wore through and I could just recarpet that one. When that carpet was replaced the fitter took all the offcuts and I didn't realise until he left. When I phone the carpet company asking for them back they claimed he'd already disposed of them.

I’m happy with the job they did. They’re a local firm with a few shops recommended by 2 of my neighbours. That’s the gist of it Bendy. Am I disappointed about the volume of carp they left because I’m innocent of them, or did they leave an extraordinary amount of carp because they could see I knew no better and they’d get away with it? Or is the standard now to leave this for the homeowner?Live and learn, I’ll know better next time.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2
