Have you tried super skinny jeggings? That what I live in. I’m a size 6-8 but only 5’1”, the M&S super skinny ones are tight fitting but still comfortable. I have long legs for my height but a short body. I think they come in different leg lengths I have the regular and they fit me fine.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

well done on the surpluses in the budgets at the end of the 4 week period. When I have a surplus I'm always very surprised - can never quite believe that I've managed to stick to plans after years of overspending.1

Have you considered finding someone who can tailor them to fit? Might be worth the extra money if you find a couple of pairs that are comfortable around the hips and them have them taken in where you need it. It is frustrating (I am 4'9" and nothing is the right length ever). I have considered having blouse sleeves shortened also. Instead I just stick to short-sleeved tops or sweaters where I can turn up the sleeves. Why I hate shopping for clothes.2

Hello, Happy May everyone. Although it was quite chilly when I walked to the village earlier. Think yesterday lulled us into a false sense of security with the sunshine. Anyway, hello to anyone who is still bothering to read my very boring and not very often posts. I must try and post more often.
Its been a vey up & down past few weeks....I had to have a new phone the other week, (refurbished one), then DH had to have new glasses as he hadn't had eyes tested for over 5 years and his prescription had changed big time! .....that wasn't cheap, but lets try not to dwell on that. We paid the 30% deposit and then they do the rest over 10 months interest free. All done inhouse with no credit check and only offered to "good" clients. Well as we have been using them for over 27 years now, I think we qualify...lol.
Then we got a rat in the garden and had to spend money on trying to get rid of him.... no idea where he came from, but I've been spraying loads of peppermint oil spray, as that is supposed to deter them. Also bought a mint plant which I split into 2 and put where we thought he might be hiding. I hate rats with a passion, and can't even face going outside if I think he might be there...although as DH says, it is probably more scared of me than I am of it. I have even rung the council pest man, who has made an appointment to come out on Friday (Its contracted out to an outside company these days....£20). If we cancel before Friday morning, we can get a full refund, so we are keeping an eye out to see if its gone. Not been spotted since Monday evening, so fingers crossed the peppermint spray might be working.
So in MSE land, what has been happening?.
Lots of money shuffling this week as its the start of a new period. We still have savings, however little and debts are being paid. So that is all we can ask for really. Just need to try and get the savings up a bit more.
Got rid of one creditor this month, when I finally finished paying the F&F settlement on it, so DMP (self managed ) debts are going down at last a bit quicker. Will now work out the next one to tackle, although the main inroad into these will be after mortgage is paid off, but every little helps.
Made an OP on the mortgage after the regular payment came out yesterday and then when I saw the total today after interest was added, I paid a bit more as I like nice round numbers. So that is down to £16,700 now and I am still working on trying to get it paid off before end of next year, instead of the June 2026 that its scheduled for.
Last month was quite good on the survey/study front and ended up making £118, over the different ones I use, So very pleased with that. Most I've had for many months.
Heating not being used much now and lights not going on so early, so hoping the next energy bill will be a lot better. Then we are away for a little break at the start of June, so won't be using anything that week....but they still charge silly standing charges even though we won't be here. But I suppose the fridge/freezer and CCTV camera will still be on. But the standing charge will be more than the cost of running them.
Went food shopping on Monday, and honestly its scary. I think food prices are still going up every week. The price of olive oil now is ridiculous! If anyone has seen it cheap anywhere, let me know. Just got to finish off a few gaps in the meal plan and we should be ok.
Good think regarding shopping, I have read on one of our local FB groups that planning permission has been given for a new L!d! to be built on a new housing estate that is going up soon, just off thy bypass by the village. No idea how long that will take, but it should mean that I would be able to walk there with my shopping trolley and save petrol as well as getting extra steps in. Hope its not too long before they start it....although they haven't started the houses yet....lol.
Veggie plants are still growing massively, have started hardening them off in the day time. The cues look a bit dried out on the leaves, even though I am watering them, so not sure about them, never grown them before. Will try and post some pics in the week.
My big thing, is I still feel like I am eating too much chocolate, so going to try and make myself more accountable for that. I did set up a savings pot called...."No choc fun days out", so that every time I don't buy chocolate, I can put money in the pot. But so far there's not much in it. Might have to start posting it on here so you can all shame me when I eat too much! I'm sure it can't be doing me any good. the silly thing is, the rest of my diet is really healthy, plenty of fruit & veg, protein etc. But I just have this craving for chocolate. So I am publicly stating here and now that I will try harder and will post more regularly to help me get it under control. Think of how much money I will save as well. I do use my personal spends on it, not grocery money, but even so, its not something I NEED is it? I never used to eat this much chocolate, so maybe there's something missing from my diet that is making me crave it? Who knows.
Well, that's all from me today. Thanks for reading. Hope every one has a nice day.,

Is it possible that you are short of iron and that is driving the craving for chocolate?
Another option is to start eating a really good quality, rich, high cocoa chocolate. I switched to a 75% dark chocolate and I am down to one square a night that I nibble slowly with my cup of tea after dinner 😊
Bravo on the surveys etc! 😊

@KajiKita, I didn't know about the iron. Might be worth looking into. Yes, I much prefer a good quality dark chocolate TBH. But then I go & buy other stuff 'cause DH prefers it & then lately I seem to be eating that. Going to try buying the dark stuff only again & limiting it to 1 square a day....maybe 2 on a weekend...lolMaking the debt go down and savings go up
