  • @Makingabobor2. That sounds a very good idea about screen time. The trouble with me is that once I start, I keep carrying on, usually just mindless sites or browsing eBay etc, when I really don’t want or need anything. Sorry to hear about your osteoporosis. My dad had it and he was was always in a lot of pain. The trouble with me is my sciatica which is bothering me at the moment and I can’t stand much, let alone walk or do much exercise.

@Sun_Addict. I agree about the Eurovision Song Contest. It was a great family event when I was younger, and we also filled in the score card! However, it’s always been political, with neighbouring countries voting for each other. The late Terry Wogan used to make me laugh when he used to say “now there’s a surprise, Norway giving Sweden 12 points, Sweden reciprocating and then giving Finland 10 points!” It was obvious that it wasn’t about the song and that a lot of countries didn’t want the UK to win, hence voting for Ireland (Johnny Logan twice) and poor Ireland had the cost of hosting. There are so many countries participating now that they now need to have qualifying heats, which makes it more boring and long winded! Of course, the great ABBA were fantastic (so too Johnny Logan, Bucks Fizz and Dana) and I think most countries voted for Ireland as they understood English and and could follow the song. I didn’t watch it!

I love Eurovision 😍 Brings back happy memories of watching it with my mom when I was a kid filling in the score card in the Radio Times, we took it very seriously 😆 Not sure I’ll be awake for the results though, usually in bed by 9pm.
It used to be so different when we were kids didn't it?
We normally go to bed just after 9 as well. As it turned out, I did go to bed early but DH stayed up...goodness knows why...lol

Back in the day Eurovision seemed more fun and there were less channels to chose from so we were much more likely to watch it.
We do the popmaster radio quiz most days and there are often Eurovision questions which we never get right.  I've told MrBC that we might need to do some intensive Eurovision based revision but he doesn't seem very keen 🤷‍♀️

Sorry I've been AWOL again, but thanks for sticking with me anyone who's still reading. Been stressed about a few things and stuff going on and just couldn't summon up the energy to post TBH.  But I have been keeping the faith and doing all things MSE where I could, although we have had a couple of issues, that are hopefully resolved now, and so I have altered monies going into pots each week/month now, in the hope things will pick up again.

Paid another £50 OP on mortgage today, not as much as I'd hoped this month, but better than nothing and will get it back up to more again next month.  Almost time for the normal monthly payment to go out, which will help a lot anyway. Still aiming for getting it paid sooner than 2026.

Sold a couple of bits on V*nt*d. Really like the app now I've discovered it and got used to it. Much easier than the Bay of E.

New 4 week period has started today and as we are away next week and already paid for, I'm hoping we might come in under budget next time.

HMRC are driving me mad. My pension increase shows that I should only be paying £8 a year tax on both my pensions added together. But for some reason my private pension has taxed me £20 a month for the last 2 months!  Not a happy bunny. Going round in circles trying to get hold of anyone to ask about it. But my account definitely shows I shouldn't be paying it. So I'll wait and see if maybe I'll get it back next month. If not I'll have to try and contact them again.

Veggies are coming on lovely in the garden. Just hoping this awful rain doesn't destroy everything.  We are away for a few days next week, so DD is in charge of them. At this rate she won't need to water them...lol

So off to get the dinner on now, and will try and post more often...I keep on saying that don't I?

Quick update tonight as try not to come online after 8pm.
Lots of surveys around today on P/fc. Cashed out £6 & still £20 waiting to approve.
    Sending £10 to holiday pot
Tomorrow is DH's payday so will be checking pots & updating things.

Found a brand new towel in CS today for....75p. Was only saying to DH yesterday that the one in the downstairs loo was looking thin now. So bargain there.

Soon as we get back from our few days away, I will work out which debt to throw extra at.

Busy day planned tomorrow...cleaning, packing for our little trip & need to buy Fathers day cards.
    Have a good night everyone.

I have tomatoes planted outside now but am still hardening off courgettes & squashes as I sowed those 2 weeks later than usual this year. Beans still in greenhouse in pots, haven't even started hardening those off yet but intend to do so in the next couple of days as it looks to be getting a bit warmer.
Snails & slugs are the worst enemies of veg during these very rainy spells. I've lost 5 entire lettuces - reduced to stalks - over a couple of soggy nights this week, so we have a torchlit patrol planned. Everything just needs some warmer drier weather now. Rain v important to gardeners, but not the amounts we have recently been experiencing.

Got everything done today, and tomorrow we are off to see my dad & then have a few days away. So looking forward to it & should be plenty of NSD's as its all paid for, including food and I've already filled up the car.

Ended the month with  over £100 from surveys & TCB, so very pleased with that.

Hope everyone is doing ok & I'll see you all when we get back, when I will be knuckling down to some new budgeting & debt paying & saving.

Just wanted to say I am back after our days away, but tested positive for covid 2 days after we got back. I know there was a lot of people coughing were we were, but hoped we had kept away from them....obviously not. Mine has manifested itself as a very bad cold, permanent runny nose and sneezing, very achy, headache, tired and just generally wanting to sleep.  It such a shame as we had a brilliant holiday

I did keep the faith and not spend anything while we were away and I have made a small OP on the mortgage to keep it at a nice round figure. All other things need looking at, but need to wait until my brain is working properly again.

Will be back soon, in the mean time I hope everyone is ok
