Ooooh, state pension AND bus pass, m'dear. How exciting! I need to check whether I have 7 years or 8 still to go before I get mine. If the public sector isn't struck by more austerity cuts meaning Mr F can stay in employment, I am intending to try & save mine each month as he is a few years younger than me. It's a long way off yet though, so will re-assess nearer the time.
Glad you had a good holiday. Haven't claimed a TGTG bag yet, though we have signed up. The pub on the way into town (v close to our village) keeps doing bags of carvery leftovers. I should think with the current food inflation rates, they are invaluable for families. We daren't put our hands up for anything sausage roll/pastries based because we are dieting, but I'll not lie, it's sometimes tempting.

My DH is also a lot younger than me @foxgloves, so he has quite a few years to go. Once we've cleared the mortgage in what I hope will be 2 years max & other debts, not long after, I will b saving even more each month. I've written my list of all the things I need to pay/save from next week when pension hits the bank. Just a case of amending DD's and making new saving pots. Finding it all very exciting. DH is hoping I can get a crack on with this saving lark, so he can retire early....lolMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Well today I went over the £50 mark with Y!*ve surveys. Just got to wait for them to pay out now. I only signed up to them at end of December, so not too bad at all. Other surveys been a bit slow, although I do have about £8+ waiting to approve in P/fc.
On the home front....a bird decided to poop down my pj top on the washing line....not very nice of it, so had to bring it in and re-wash it in the sink.
Need to get a crack on now as got an online exercise session to do before dinner.
Have a good evening everyone.Making the debt go down and savings go up

The only thing I can offer to those who are nearing retirement is save all you can as both dh and I ended up retiring early due to health conditios so we lost the last few years of saving which has made a huge difference to us.

Morning all.
A very dreary day today, no sign of sunshine yet and feeling quite cool Weather app says its already 19c, but really doesn't feel like it. Today's plans are to get the washing pegged out as soon as it is finished washing and clean the bathroom and downstairs loo...such an exciting life I lead....lol. I've done my morning stretch routine, so will do a bone loading class online later & maybe a Salsa class and also a nice walk to get the steps in. I feel like my exercise has suffered the last few days through spending a lot of time online doing essential things.
On money saving things.....the state pension arrived in the bank on Monday...yay! Only 2 weeks worth this month, but will be on full amount at end of July. It coincides with the the same day I get my private pension so that is good. I just made a small overpayment on the mortgage, to get it down to a nice round figure and will start with a lot more OPs next month. We are now on £26K with 3 years to go.. I have used the overpayment calculator and put in lots of different scenarios, and I know I can knock at least a year off, maybe more. I'll just keep plugging away at it. I also want to start and try and get some F&Fs on the debts, but will obviously have more to do that with once the mortgage is done with. I am planning on sitting down in the next week or so and actually getting the savings pots organised and amending any transfers etc. The plan was to do that on Monday, but a few other things cropped up and started on it, but not complete yet. Need to get my new budget book. I feel that a new start requires a new book....lol. My current one is only A5 size and I feel like I need an A4 now. Isn't it funny, the things that make us happy?? LOL Once I have sorted my pots, I will post my ideas on here. Must admit a lot of my ideas will be ones I stole from other MSE'ers. I tend to read other people's diaries and think...."oh that's a good idea".....lol
Surveys been a bit slow still since we got back from holiday, but coming along steadily. Like everything else, I will just keep plugging away at them and slow and steady wins the race. Still waiting on the YLive one, but I know they only actually pay out once a month apparently.
Have dug up a few home grown potatoes and they were delicious. Still a few more in there. Only growing in large pots, so were never going to have loads, but its very satisfying to do it. Not had a lot of time for gardening this week and next week I have GKs x 4 coming to stay for a couple of nights while DD & DSIL, have to go on some training for work....they both work for the same company. Its a logistic nightmare sorting out sleeping and stuff.....lol.
So sounds like the washing has done, so I'll crack on. Have a good day everyone.Making the debt go down and savings go up

y! Only 2 weeks worth this month, but will be on full amount at end of July. It coincides with the the same day I get my private pension so that is good.Don’t forget depending on the number of days in the month the date will change as it’s four weekly. Apologies if your private pension is four weekly too but my sister in law worried her sp wasn’t being paid as she thought it would be like her salary and was convinced the payments had stopped2
