Hello....is there anybody out there in diary land still? I am finally catching up after getting back from your break away last Friday. I must say, it was 11 days of relaxation, lots of walking, far too many cakes, cold winds for the first few days, and sunshine for the last few. The good thing is that we didn't spend a lot more than was budgeted for, although I did have to put some of the £100 from NW, towards petrol as we ended up doing a bit more driving when we got there and I hadn't quite got enough in my budget. At least it meant we didn't take it from an existing savings pot. So now I am back and getting into full MSE mode again.
MSE wins from the holiday were that we found free parking everywhere except for the one country park we went to, where it was £2. So not bad for 11 days. We took a packed lunch every day, and DH had bought a thermos flask before we went away, so the only coffee we bought was on my birthday when DH treated me to coffee and cake. We did go to a NT property and gardens one day with our friends who live on NE coast, but they treated us to the admission, so that was another win. Another thing we discovered was TGTG bags. Managed to get 3 while we were up there from a local bakery and the contents were amazing. There was plenty to spread over 2 or 3 days....sausage rolls, steak bakes, chicken pies, bread rolls, cream cakes, filled sandwiches. It said it was £12 worth of stuff for £3,99 a bag. So now I am looking at the app every day at home, but don't seem to be so many good ones locally, but will keep looking.
The BIG birthday happened while we were away, and I promptly sent off for my bus pass. I hate using buses, and even more so since Covid, but I might give it a go one day when I need to go into town shopping, if its going to save me money. Although I think I would be sat at the back wearing a mask. First lot of state pension is arriving in bank on Monday, this will just be 2 weeks money and then the full amount will start from end of July. To say I am excited is an understatement and you should have seen me sat on the caravan balcony, in my pjs on my birthday waving my arms in the air and singing....lol. DH took some video footage but has been banned from showing it to anyone....lol. So the rest of this week, now I have caught up on washing, will be spent on sorting out new savings pots etc. As you can see from my signature, my NSDs are pretty diabolical this month, as is my make £5 a day, so I think I may have to just do the best I can and start again next month.
I certainly got my step count up while we were away, and I feel quite sluggish since we have come back, Don't see to have had time for many big walks, although TBH, I don't enjoy walking round the local area, not quite the same as walking on a lovely beach. But I told DH we will start going out more at weekends a bit further afield now the weather is ....supposedly.....nicer.
MSE wins since we got back......dug up a few potatoes on Sunday to see how they looked and they were absolutely lovely. So very pleased with them and there's plenty more in the big tub to dig out still. Not many carrots coming up so far this year, but fingers crossed. I just really need to get on with the garden now we are back. Might got round the local car boot on Sunday and see what plant sellers I can find.
Also I have been looking for a decent back pack for when we go walking, and went into local Age UK yesterday to drop off a bag of stuff and found a lovely MW bag for £3.50. Looks like its not really been used, so a bargain there and as I had £70 birthday money, I didn't feel guilty buying it.
DH managed to sell a couple of bits on FBMP on Sunday and I have a couple of things to list, so fingers crossed there. I am back in decluttering mode again.....lol
So dinner tonight is what was left over from last night's chicken & veg done in slow cooker, and I will probably add some tinned tomatoes and blitz is into a soupy thing.....lol.
So I am off to try and catch up with everybody's posts now. Had over 347 notifications when I logged back in! I clearly subsribe to far too many threads.
Hope everyone is doing ok, and thanks as always for following.Making the debt go down and savings go up
