Police driving offense prosecution - appeal?

Recieved a letter from the Metropolitan police, saying I hadn't reposended to their earlier letter and they were going to prosecute me for a motoring offense, breaking a road rule.

I never received any letters from them, I assume this is the recent Postal strike, by the time I got their letter it was too late. They're going to prosecution.

Can anyone suggest what to do.
The website won't let me log in, I assume as its too late to admit fault and pay the fine.

Can I appeal? There's no phone number or way to contact them.

Who would I contact about this, or try to explain that I never got any notice of this until it was too late.

Thanks

OP, what exactly have you received? Is it a Single Justice Procedure notice?

    What offence is alleged?

    It says
    Road traffic offenses act
Intended prosecution offense of Drive on road other than motorway, fail to comply with automatic equipment.

    I ignored a temporary road sign's instructions.

    Thanks

So before more info is provided

    1) Were you stopped at the time ? And therefore aware something was coming your way
    2) Is the car yours/registered to you (at your current address) or is it leased/company car/in someone elses name (and if so did they receive the original letter and it's not yet made its way to you)

OP, they can't prosecute you, as they don't know who was driving, unless (1) you were stopped at the time, or (2) you have indeed received a letter and have replied naming yourself as driver.

You need to read the letter very carefully. Does it simply ask you to reply naming the driver?

Was not stopped at time of incident.
Letter asks who was the driver
I filled in the form and said I was the driver and am also the registered owner.
Indicates I will be prosecuted as did not reply to first letter, and did not reply to 2nd letter within 7 days, due to postal strike.

Letter has been sent, I'd just like to pay the fine, and not get prosecuted.

    thanks

This will not help but there is no such thing as a registered owner of a car
There is nothing to stop you phoning the traffic process office and asking them if you can still pay
To find the number googles your friend
    However I can help

From your description it seems you are being prosecuted for failure to provide details. AFAIK a fixed penalty is not an option for
that offence, but being prosecuted does not mean you have to go to court. If you plead guilty it will be dealt with by post.

However, since you have named yourself as the driver then you may also be charged with the speeding offence, in which case not going to court would result in nine points on your licence, plus two fines, victim surcharges and costs.

I would suggest you wait until you receive the court documents, and then go to pepipoo.com for expert advice.

We cannot be sure at all unless the OP posts the letters as this is very confusing
    Who mentioned speeding offences?
The OP said    Intended prosecution offense of Drive on road other than motorway, fail to comply with automatic equipment.
Who mentioned failure to identify the driver?
The OP for all we know could have been offered a course or FPN  and did not reply in time and now is being prosecuted
