What a surprise.
Ex-clamper notorious bullyboy firm Excel implicated by locals in alleged 'Faulty keypad' scam.
Their 'machine logs' are not reliable evidence anyway, given the findings of two Judges in Excel v Ambler.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Excel-ent results for the locals!3

CM apparently it never even got to discussion of the machine logs. The rep, who did not seem to have much heart in the claim, stated that as the defendent had paid it came down to whether the judge considered that the wrong input of the VRN was a breach of contract. The judge said " No I don't, Case dismissed".Coupon-mad said:What a surprise.

I doubt that the reps want to take on these claims. That said they would still get paid,

@Snakes_Belly excel-ent as put by @coupan-mad.
Yeah although I wonder about the other cases due to non-VRN issues.2 -
Another hearing today at Walsall Court. This was assisted by the FB group.
Judge asked if it was Three Spires again as he had previously heard about fifteen of these claims.
No WS and solicitor said it had been sent. The judge said that it had not been received and dismissed the claim.
Rep asked if he could appeal. Judge replied "that's your right but bear in mind it will come before me with my knowledge of the case and my knowledge of Excel parking and then Mr B would be within his rights to countersue".

Sounds like that Walsall judge has got Excel sussed out! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It must be annoying when these spurious claims are blocking up the courtsAbout 1000 a month with 30% being Set Asides. That's a lot of Set Asides.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

I am very tempted to write a letter to Jonathan Sumption about the Lichfield issue.
https://www.standard.co.uk/esmagazine/my-london-jonathan-sumption-a4091061.html#comments-area
Firstly he seems a little ill informed in his article above,"What makes someone a Londoner?"
"I think you have to be born there. Or else abroad."
"Most iconic Londoner?"
"Samuel Johnson. A real Londoner: he lived on the eastern side of Temple borough, and not many iconic Londoners have done that. One might refer to Dickens, if he wasn’t such an insufferable man."
Iconic Londoner ? His birthplace is in Lichfield where he spent the first 27 years of his life. He also taught at his school at Edial one of his pupils being David Garrick.
Lord Sumption should perhaps pay a visit and also visit Erasmus Darwin's House. Be careful though where he parks as he may find himself defending a claim.
