Examples of surprising prices

Perhaps their contracts have expired, I really like M&S eggs and never mind paying a little more for them.maryb said:Was in Marks yesterday and there were yet more price rises. Butter now £2 and milk had gone up to £1.65 for four pints. Someone on here mentioned that they sign long term contracts with their suppliers and up to now that has meant their prices were stable. Looks like that isn’t the case anymore but I do hope they are passing on the increase to the farmers. At any rate, they had plenty of eggs so I bought a dozen without looking at the price. It’s Stir Up Sunday this week and I need eggs for the cake and the pudding

Tesco do a beans and sausages at 42p (last seen price). I don't know what they are like but they.ve got good reviews.Indout96 said:Been using Aldi Beans & sausage on toast for breakfast now I am semi retired and home 5 days a week. a tin was 46p and lasted me 3 breakfasts but they have had none now for 3 weeks so last night on way home from work called in B&M, only had Heinz and £1.40 a tin.
Basket put back and me back in car with nothing
not paying that price (not even keen in Heinz) so will just have to wait for Aldi to get some in.
They do seem to be a lot of odd things missing for weeks on shelves, last one was Malted milk biscuits both Aldi & Lidl had none for weeks5 -
Tesco also sell Stockwell and co beans and sausages - currently out of stock online when I looked but normally sell for 40p a tin4

I noticed in my local Savers even their granulated sugar has risen since the begining of November. I bought a kilo bag on the 1st and it was 62p, its now 75p so a 13p rise in 15 days.
I popped my head in to see how the prices were this morning ,didn't buy anything though

The 42p price I saw was for Stockwell beans and sausages (also online). I wonder what it will be when it returns.double_dutchy said:Tesco also sell Stockwell and co beans and sausages - currently out of stock online when I looked but normally sell for 40p a tin
I do have a tin but I'm putting off trying it as it needs a can opener and I don't manage them very well. That's the trouble with the cheapest versions - rarely ring pull cans. The contents are usually as good as the more expensive versions though.3 -
Sorry, I thought you were talking about Tesco's own brand, but now I look they were selling for 80p a tin (also currently out of stock)GaleSF63 said:The 42p price I saw was for Stockwell beans and sausages (also online).4 -
Well, Stockwell is Tesco's own budget brand. Presumably to replace their budget range which disappeared......Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I struggle with normal tin openers due to my disability and I wouldn't be without my EZSqueeze one. When the last one broke my OH went out and bought me a new one within a day. Usually they are around the £14-15 area but in my opinion worth it. My OH has used it and says it is a breeze compared with usual openers.GaleSF63 said:I do have a tin but I'm putting off trying it as it needs a can opener and I don't manage them very well. Eeek, £27 on Amazon! At the moment I use the old-fashioned butterfly opener, turning it by putting a screwdriver through the holes. I've tried a few different ones and come to the conclusion the problem is with the modern cans - the rim is too deep and the metal too bendy.Doom_and_Gloom said:
