Where's my £66?

The logic is that it is easier to reduce the DD once by £67 than programming the computers to do a change again in a couple of months. If they had done it the other way, reducing DD by £66, no doubt there would be cries of being robbedSea_Shell said:Lorian said:Just had the £66 credit applied to my account by eon.next.
Same here, but they also had reduced my DD by £67.😉🤔
No wonder people are confused.
Not bothered myself, as it'll all get paid at the end of the day, but still...

I am with EDF, my Direct Debit (budget) comes out on the 5th, I will only bother doing anything about it if the credit has not appeared by the end of the month, no point in wasting their time or mine before then.2

Makes sense. So 6 x £67 DD reduction. £402 less paid by me, but £400 paid by HMG.
Ooh, but that means my account will be £2 "short"!!!
Who do I complain to!!! 😉
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)1 -

Presumably my direct debit will be for just £1.19 (I pay the bill in full each month).I'm not so sure - I also pay monthly variable DD, and received my September bill yesterday morning (with the associated DD for the full bill due two weeks later), then, yesterday evening, the £66 arrived in my account; my assumption is that the full DD for the bill will be taken, meaning my account will then go £66 into credit? This would mean that the £66 doesn't provide any benefit until November, where, presumably it will be factored into the calculations for the October bill? After all, the Energy Grant runs from October to March inclusive, and the current bill and DD is for September...Just my guess/assumption as to how it's going to work?

If you check your edf account online or download their app you'll probably find it went in yesterday as credit and pending refund to your bank accountMattMattMattUK said:I am with EDF, my Direct Debit (budget) comes out on the 5th, I will only bother doing anything about it if the credit has not appeared by the end of the month, no point in wasting their time or mine before then.0 -
That is what I would expect, so you still get the full benefit of the £400, just offset by one month because you pay in arrears not in advance.SJMALBA said:JohnB47 said:£66 paid into my Octopus account yesterday. Received my monthly bill for £67.19 the day before. Now my account says -£1.19

EDF Economy 7 Just checked mine DD went out as usual but no mention anywhere of the £66. I looked as a reference point. Good news my submitted meter reading was logged for September 30th. I do have a two yearly DD payment account check, so next one not due until January. It was the main reason I submitted a reading before the rise, so they knew where to charge the new rate from. Day rate went up 12p night rate came down 6pSwipe said:

Eonnext. My DD is paid on 15th every month and my DD has been reduced from £112 to £45. And I see that the government credit has been applied to my balance today, making me £700 in credit.Curiously nothing from eon to suggest they’re increasing my DD to take into account the higher charges since Oct 1. Perhaps they have looked at my usage and balance and decided the latter will carry me through.I’ll keep an eye on it and make adhoc payments if I think it’s necessary.0

Yes, perhaps so. I'm not worried. It will all sort itself out in the end.SJMALBA said:JohnB47 said:£66 paid into my Octopus account yesterday. Received my monthly bill for £67.19 the day before. Now my account says -£1.19

I got a email saying they will refund the £66 to the bank account that pays the direct debit0
