Hi ..I bought a sonic toothbrush from ebay for only £14 which is absolutely brill. It does tickle when using it,and it feels different from my usual electric one which was knackered!..i know some sonics are a lot more money..:j

    but my issue is,

sonic waves are often used in things like breaking down gall stones by the vibrations they give off..so is a coincidence that my filling i have had for years is now showing signs of becoming loose??? only 4 months after using this brush? Surely the vibrations are going to loosen a filling??

Is there a dentist or dental nurse on here who can answer me?
Otherwise its a trip to dentist for new filling..then it aint a cheap brush anymore!

You didn't save money, as they have been on sale in most of the retailers for £12.49 which is half the supposed RRP of £25.

But having said that, I find my one which cost me £12.49 is great.

I haven't had any problems with fillings ... they do just fall out from time to time so it might be purely a coincidence.

Sonic toothbrushes have nowhere near the power of the dentist's ultrasonic scaler.

The cheaper ones don't really do much at all other than vibrate a bit. The dearer ones like the Sonicare, or Oral B are all right, but really, the oscillating/pulsating action of the more conventional Oral B electric toothbrushes is a much better tooth cleaner.

I doubt your brush would have been responsible for loosening your filling, but fillings do come loose on their own for various reasons, so a trip to your dentist sooner rather than later to get it looked at would be the best moneysaving idea!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
