Electric Toothbrushes

My electric toothbrish has just died so I'm looking for a new one.

Thing is with these things is that the replacement heads are a rip off.

I did find a brush that supposedly didn't need toothpaste though:

i agree, we have 3 braun electric toothbrushes (between 5 of us)

to replace all 5 heads at the same time means paying £15 for 4 then another 39 for two.

I have just bought some on ebay..... state original make..... even looks it in the picture , just waiting for them to arrive.... hope they dont come from china......
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I recently bought toothbrush heads from ebay, they are exactly the same product & packaging as the ones I had been buying in Boots, just cheaper, I would also say shop around for my toothbrush replacement heads Boots are £10 cheaper than Superdrug, still not as cheap as ebay :)

there's a good deal on in boots at the moment, there's a thread about it somewhere. the braun advance 900 rechargeables are normally around £19. they're half price, but there's also a 3 for 2 on dental - they way the till is set up means you can buy three of them for less than £10. they would normally cost around £60, the till takes off £20 for the 3rd one (3 for 2) then takes of 3 lots of £10 for the half price offer, you get 3 toothbrushes for 8/9-ish, depending on which ones you go for. i bought 3 of the incredibles ones for xmas presents, cost less than £9.99 using a ten percent off voucher (found in the boots magazine, should be by the tills, it's shrinkwrapped with a smaller leaflet 'hot holiday buys' containing a ten percent off voucher). there are bright ones, sparkly ones, ordinary blue and white ones - lots of choice. the heads are on 3 for 2 too, and the 4-packs have £5 off.

Well the price of the toothbrush itself doesn't matter too much - they often make their money back on the replacement heads so that's what matters.

The Braun Oral-B heads workout at £2.67 each in the 4 pack. How does it work out for your suggestions?

Also, the ones that take those AA batteries I expect are awful because even with rechargeables the batteries will probably die quickly.

    ( price from here:

my suggestion is only cheap while the boots promotion is on. i haven't been to boots this week so the offers might have finished, the only offer listed online is the 3 for 2 on all dental. the brushes don't take AA batteries, they're the plug in ones.

if the offers are still on instore it's £10 for a 4 pack, reduced from £15, and it's 3 for 2 so you could get 12 brush-heads for £20 (£1.67 each). that's without taking into account any advantage points (4%) they give you, any total spend vouchers from the machine for extra points and the 10% off voucher that's floating around in the 'hot holiday buys' leaflet.

also without taking the vouchers and points into account you would get 3 toothbrushes for £9.99 instead of the usual price of £57.97 but again it only works this way while the half price and 3 for 2 offers are on.

the thread i read had some great bargains in, people getting triple points etc. so i went and got 6 toothbrushes for less than £20 but i didn't buy the heads, should have done :-(

i don't know if i'll be going into town this week so i can't check for you, if anyone else knows if this offer is still on please post here because i'll make the effort to get cheap brush-heads :-)

Boots had some on 2:1 2 weeks ago. I say some, because there seemed to be 2 or 3 different sizes of heads available and only 1 size was on 2:1.

Just in case anyone is interested, the above are back on sale for £19.99 - very good value and seem as effective as the more expensive brands you can get.

I have one and am v. happy with it. https://www.tchibo.co.uk. Press the "coming soon" at the top of page.

The Giani toothbrush provides 50,000 "strokes" per minute, whereas the Oral-B provides 89,000 "oscillating movements" and 40,000 "pulsations" per minute

Does a "stroke" equal an "oscillating movement" or a "pulsation"? In other words, which toothbrush is moving faster?

    Thanks!
