Crikey - sorry, I meant the Braun
This one is below £30.
I don't mean to suggest that this site is the cheapest - but it has a more extensive choice - for other dental care, apart from electric toothbrushes.

It will keep gum disease at bay, but cavities are caused by decay which is to do with how much sugar is in your diet and when it is eaten, not how clean your teeth are!
Thanks for the tip! We were too poor for sweets and fizzy drinks when I was a kid so I'm sure that's helped matters. Can't abide either now even though I can afford them.
But I realise it's a losing battle in the long run. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

Never used the other features like gum massaging or anything
About to get a 9500 Sonicare soon - Lady in work says she thinks these are better.. Might take a bit of getting used to but will post back what I think is the best between the two
Wondering if you had the chance to compare the 2 toothbrushes?0 -
I second all the recommendations for Oral B brushes. Myself and my family have been using the rechargeable ones for many years with no problems.
The replacement heads can be expensive but I usually wait until Boots, or Superdrug, have offers on them.
I recently bought another two for Xmas presents; they are reduced at both Boots and Superdrug at the moment.
PS the Oral B basic is usable with one of three different heads whereas some of the other ones restrict you to one style of head.0 -
Thanks.
I have been using OralB for the last 3 years as well and it was a huge improvement on the manual one, and I am only using the basic one ( with non rechargeable batteries)
now I have decided to go for the best out there, either the Triumph 9500 or the sonicare elite 9800, and wondering which one is better, I have spent hours searching the web and it seems the Sonicare has more supporters.
wanted to know if the previous op who tried both can confirm or not.

I am looking at buying the sonicare elite 7300 from amazon or boots. I want it to be used by all the family and so am buying 3 brush heads. Please can someone tell me if these are easily interchangable ie. about 9 changes a day. Its just that I looked at the ultrasonex and it is made to be used by one person only, brush heads can only be changed when worn out. Thanks0

Yes - they interchange very easily.
Screw on/off.
Solid construction.
They are designed to be used by more than one family member. How to find a dentist.

Hi
I am now looking to buy a toothbrush, well I was looking to buy one 4 months ago, but haven't got round to buying one.
As its Christmas and places have things cheap, I have found 3 candidates to clean my teeth.- Oral B Triumph Professional Care 9500 £69.99
- Oral B Sonic Complete £66.99
- Philips Sonicare Elite(R) £45.99
The Sonicare says 'whiter, healthier teeth in 28 days GUARANTEED'.
The Oral B Sonic Complete says 'whiten your teeth 25% better than Sonicare Elite* by removing more coffee, tea, and tobacco stains'.
The Triumph 9500 says 'When used with the PowerPolish brushhead, Oral-B Triumph provides cleaner, whiter teeth in 21 days. It has been proven to erase 60% more stains than the leading competitor'.
A crazy war of words there, are those to be believed? Be great if they were true.
I'm no expert in teeth and the wonderful toothbrush technology, so I would like some feedback on any of the above. All I know is the Sonicare brush heads rob my piggy bank.
So in short which of the three would perform the best?0 -
The oscillating/pulsating action of the Oral B is, in my opinion, more effective than the sonic action of Sonicare or Oral B sonic.
£69.99 is an excellent price for the 9500, but the cheaper 8500 is also an excellent toothbrush.
As your correctly point out, heads for the sonic ones are dearer, although you supposedly have to replace them less.
If it were my money, I'd buy the 9500.
I've personally used both the Sonicare and the 9500 (I got one of each free!! job perk!). I mainly use the Sonicare, but for no particular reason other than my wife uses the Braun, and this way we don't have to fight over it.How to find a dentist.
