Electric Toothbrushes

It seems to be a matter of personal opinion which is the best.
I had an electric one and replaced it with a sonic when the former finally gave up. I couldn't get on with the sonic and have gone back to electric.
The best advice I got was from an assistant in Boots. She always asks customers what they are using and the moment and how they get on with it. Her advice was - if you've been happy with your last toothbrush and had no unfavourabe comments from your dentist/hygenist, buy the same type again!
I think this means - don't believe the hype and trust your own judgement.0 -
I have been using a Sonicare for several years, but following Toothsmith's other posts sometime ago (better to have oscillating and pulsating) I have just bought an Oral B 8500. they are half price at Boots and on Amazon at the moment0

One dentist said they were no better than the oral-b round heads and another (younger) dentist said she had heard good things about them.
I did have a heavily filled tooth crumble when I was using mine - hadn't associated this with the sonic brush. I sent it back to Braun under their 2 year perfectly happy offer, got my money back and bought a Braun Oral B Triumph non sonic brush. I am very happy with it.0 -
I have never used an electric toothbrush but am considering getting one after reading about all the offers around at the moment. One thing I am not sure about though is - do you need to use special toothpaste with them?0
-
no normal toothpaste i dont think you can get special toothpaste to be honest ive had a electric toothbrush since i was 15 im 21 now i have changed them though lol. I have a ultra sonex one at the moment its brilliant its like having a polish every day especially if you use sensodyne whitening toothpaste. I hope this helps

Not as far as I know, I just use normal toothpaste.:wave:0

no special toothpaste, just probably less than normal as electric toothbrushes really froth up the toothpaste!0

I'm thinking of treating myself to one this Christmas.
Has anyone any experience of using these ?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Yes, I love mine! I've had a Philips 'elite' one for 2 years now, it's rechargeable & the heads last about 3 months. I would never go back to manual. It's much better for your gums. Mine bleed if I use manual because I brush too hard.
Mine has a timer on it for 2 mins split into 4x30 secs so you brush your teeth in 4 sections. It sounds daft but it works for me!
It cost £99 but I think they've come down in price to about £60 now. The replacement heads cost around £15 for 2 (6 months supply).
I would highly recommend one, they seem pricey but I think they do make a difference (your teeth feel 'squeaky'!)0 -
Hello spiritus
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
