Hi all
Busy day at the paid stuff working from home, DH isnt feeling great but managed a bit of work. Bed made, clean washing put away, kitchen cupboards wiped down, veggie stir fry made and eaten.
Fire lit, have managed with the heating on for just half an hour today thanks to thermals, woolly tights under my jeans and a gilet.
Oh and I spent 40 minutes on the phone to the hospital to cancel DSs chest xray for tomorrow, he is driving to Ascot with one of his horses. He has to go one day next week instead. Poor Mr N, that is awful. Hope Mr Iona is doing OK.10 -
Quick brag - lovely evening to finish my swimming challenge and I DID IT:
When I got home, I had the urge to make a cake. Wondered why Mr N seemed jittery about me spending time in the kitchen - he said he'd do dinner so I said just work around me. He left me to it. Mystery solved: cake in oven, I was sent into sit on the sofa and was shortly presented with a secretly prepared steak dinner, Buck's Fizz then a Toblerone......he'd been shopping this morning and had hidden it, bless him.
On the flying front, the new computer is now on my study desk. My old one is in Mr N's study. Both seem to work, other than a bit of an ethernet glitch with mine; both work well on wi-fi. Clearing other gibble in my study is still work in progress but the windows, windowsill and desktop are clean.

Aww Narco… tiniest bit of envy there
been at work, feel absolutely fine so I now know what I’m likely to face next month and where to draw the line. Think I will ask permission to shorten the week that week.
DW x 1, WM x 2. Read forecast, pegged out. Went out for lunch with ma and sis in Bastos. Car was at mums so I picked it up, looked at the sky and announced I would pop home to get my washing in. Big drops fell as I unpegged the last pillowcase. Then it lashed down. Bullet dodged.
Back to work for 2 hours then up to GP to look at my skin moles or whatever’s. He wasn’t concerned by them and did my flu jab as I explained I hadn’t been able to book properly as it clashed with chemo and I needed it and I have it every year anyway and yada yada
via Mr L for salmon and veg for tea

Morning all.
Well done kazwookie and Narc0 xx
Despite a very chilly and misty start, today has been a good day so far. I have.
- got my brain in gear by doing online jigsaws whilst drinking a cuppa
- FUPA most of Wednesday's clean washing (the rest is airing on the radiators)
- thrown away some packaging that was skulking in the bottom of DH's wardrobe and tidied away his no-longer-used his crutches
- done a small handwash
- done HHI and cleared the pile of pillowcases, whilst listening to my favourite radio station
- weighed the green tomatoes that I picked on Wednesday and checked that I've got all I need to make chutney later
- cooked and eaten porridge; coffee is going down well too
- sent DS1 an email about DDiL1's birthday present.
I am thankful for small mercies.
Yesterday was not a good day.
It started OK.
I took Rosie to kennels.
I cleaned DH's room and re-made his bed.
I had a lovely chat with a certain Flylady who is practising wearing purple and intends to buy a red hat.
DH was cheerful and very pleased to see me when I turned up in AMU at 11.00am. The ward sister took time to explain what treatment he was having (IV-ABs, etc) and said he would be moved to a ward when a bed became available. DH ate a hearty lunch of "chicken" curry (ie vegetarian version). All looked promising for my longed-for trip to DGS2's event today.
I went back to AMU at 6.00pm to find that DH had been moved - not to the respiratory ward, as expected, but to Coronary Care, a long trek back to the other end of the horse piddle. Eventually arrived there to find DH in a lot of pain - not just because of the curry - and clearly unwell.
Cancelled all plans to visit DD and family.
So the plan for the rest of today is
- prep chutney and cook it when I can
- quick trip to MrAl
- quick cuppa and cake at the MacMillan Coffee Morning at church, if possible
- visit horse piddle }
- make phonecalls } repeat these steps as necesary
- eat when I can }
- sleep when I can }
Rosie will stay in kennels until at least tomorrow afternoon. I am missing her gentle nudges.

Much love Iona it is very hard seeing a loved one unwell xx
And Narco glad you got spoilt.
DH is on the phone to DS1 who is driving a horsebox to Ascot and feeling sleepy. I have chatted to him for half an hour, now its DHs turn. DS says he will have done about an 80 hour week by the time he gets back from Ascot tomorrow and his employers know that his Crohns is flaring up. But of course if he has an accident it will be his fault. I have told him to get as much sleep as he can tonight.
DH has come home early because it's pouring down, I am dragging him to the supermarket. Heating is on for a bit. It's grim weather here.9 -
Thanks Valli and YL.
DH was feeling a little better this morning. The cardiologist had done his rounds; there is no talk yet of sending him home, which is a Good Thing (anybody else remember 1066 And All That ?)
The chutney is bubbling away nicely. It will fill quite a lot of small jars!
I have ordered DS2's birthday present and a new mousemat for me.
DS1 came round to collect the coffee and walnut cake (favourite family recipe) which was originally meant to go to DS2, then by default to DD, but is now his. The gannets of the family (DGD1+2) will be delighted, and I doubt that it will last until Sunday. He threatened to drive the long way home so that they would be in bed before he got there
While he was here he devised a simple solution to the draught that comes down our LR chimney: blocking it off with an L-section piece of wood will be quite easy and should save us some ££. We didn't use the gas fire at all last year, so I shan't miss it, and we shall no longer have to wrap ourselves in blankets every evening to keep warm. I need to keep my eyes peeled for a nice old-fashioned fire screen - possibly one with a cross stitch picture.
Hope that everyone has survived the week and will have a good weekend xxx9 -
Poor Iona, you two are really going through it. Glad Mr I is feeling a bit better but I know how exhausting it can be, not to mention worrying, when a loved one is in horspiddle.
Zumba and Body Balance were cancelled today as instructor ill - can't say I was sorry they weren't on. Instead I dropped Mr N off to his gym then went to Mr Ald1.
More faffing about with office/computer.
Filled bird feeders.
Did 2 flower arrangements for harvest festival on Sunday, I can drop them off tomorrow on my way back from the lake unless the weather is like today i.e. wild, windy and wet, in which case I won't bother with the lake.
Mr N and I did a bit of research for a bird watching 3-day break we've booked in Somerset next month.

Good morning everyone xx
And a mahoosive cuddly hug sent with love to each and every one of you ❤
You are all amazing and I am honoured to count you as my friends, and to be your friend. I'm sorry that I don't have a magic wand to wave away the things you are facing but I am here if you need a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to be a bit daft with now and again. And I love to hear about all the positives and successes - you're all inspiring in different ways.
It just had to be said.
