Octopus have adjusted my direct debit

I just checked. My normal payments are £64 and the website said they won't take a payment because I am on a payment holiday.
No mention of the extra £2 getting refunded and I recall someone on here saying it will just roll into the credit balance so that looks right.

I would expect so.Krakkkers said:So they have reduced the DD by the GOV refund, are they then going to increase the DD again to take account of the increase in prices?
When you put the meter readings in it asks you which day they're for. So as long as you read the meter on right day it doesn't matter (within reason) when you enter them.badmemory said:Meter reading on the to-do list!!!!!! I will be doing one on the 28th & another on the 30th. Thankfully I did that last time as shock & surprise their systems went down so come 31st I couldn't actually enter them.0 -
That would have been nice to know, but when you can't log in & you have been having issues since you were transferred to them, it is not really a given. But this is BG so who knows what will happen.

I too checked my Octopus account and saw my DD had been reduced from £250 to about £183. I actually would prefer to keep my DD at £250 as Santander are doubling their 1.2.3 payback for the next couple of months.
Also at the mo I have the money to pay the extra DD and would rather have the excess to fall back on .2 -
I read this post in the E.ON Next DD thread and realised I had to check my account too.Sure enough, Octopus had helpfully reduced my DD - which I'd set at £250 specifically to take advantage of the Santander 1-2-3 cashback promo - to £183.Fortunately my payment is late enough in October that I could change it back to £250. I'd have been ever-so-slightly peeved if I'd missed out on 4% of £67 - that's £2.68 after all!N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. My monthly Direct Debit with Octopus is also being reduced by £66 from October. Although, of course, I'm really pleased, I'll be keeping a watch on my meter readings to make sure I don't get into debt by not paying enough - especially with winter coming.1

It's being reduced because the government is paying £66 into your account for you. If your DD was enough before that change, it's still enough now.Deleted_User said:My monthly Direct Debit with Octopus is also being reduced by £66 from October. We all need to be careful of them lowering it too much as when it is finally possible to swap suppliers they won't let you go if you owe £500.

No, because prices are about to go up.[Deleted User] said:

If your DD after accounting for the price rise but before the change due to the government rebate was enough, then your DD after accounting for the price rise and including the change due to the government rebate will still be enough.
Again, the government is paying the 'missing' bit into your account. This particular reduction in the DD will not be putting you in any more or any less debt that you would have been without the change.badmemory said:We all need to be careful of them lowering it too much as when it is finally possible to swap suppliers they won't let you go if you owe £500.1
