EON Next DD
Anyone else confused by EON Next recent communication on direct debits and the govt £400?
I had an email that said your DD will change because Energy is going up, and it quoted the current and predicted costs (and extra £500 a year). Then in the text of the email they listed the Direct Debit as the new amount, less the £66, without actually specifying that’s what they’d done.
I logged onto my account, and could see the DD was £135 instead of £200 a month. I changed it back to £200 as the rebate system makes no sense to me, if energy prices go up then the £400 should be used towards that rather than reducing payments.
Then I saw in the news they’d confused all their customers because they sent the emails out before they’d fully processed the DD changed on the back end. Now the portal shows I have.
1st Oct - DD of £200
6th Oct - DD of £135
I’ve sent them an WhatsApp to try and understand how they’re calculating it. Seems overly complex to me.

No not confused. Understand that they will be reducing my dd for 6 months, I can cope with that.0

I’m with Eon Next and the concern I have is that there’s no mention of actually applying the £67 a month to the account. Reducing the direct debit doesn’t save me a single penny, it just means I’ll be an extra £400 in arrears in 6 months time.Keep a close eye on your account and do make sure they credit your account with the £67 ASWELL as reducing your DD.
Im hoping Eon Next have just worded it very badly.-1 -

For what it's worth and to potentially help clarify what's happening,at least where Eon Next is concerned, when logged in to my account the dashboard shows that I'll be paying £8 per month reduced from £75 per month as of 01/10/22.
Clearly then a £67 credit has or will be applied and will continue to be applied for the relevant time period.0 -

You should also see a line on your account of CR £67, in addition to your reduced DD.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0

I think some things are so obvious it is not needed to be stated.5
