Hello @elsiepac thanks for doing the tallies each month. I think I'll set the October budget to
£300 (£250 for 4.5 weeks + £50 for restocking)
Our regular vegetable supplier is off for holiday until the end of next week & Mr. Jings will be going away for work from Oct 7 – Oct 12. So, I don't think our first major spend will be until 13th for a Tesco order timed for his return. Let's see how it all goes though.
Good luck everyone!

Oops - I don't believe I've posted in here yet. Thanks as always elsiepac !
Usual budget of £200 for us please - and we'll be starting our month on the 11th October.

@elsiepac, thanks to a stroke of luck, please may I whittle my target down a bit to
£350? Sorry to be a pain.
I was able to replace a couple of the items that went off with DD1 with some money found in a Bible in my bedside drawers - paper notes that needed to be used up fast! So £350 should suffice for the 3 of us (plus family visitors at weekends) for 5 weeks. Still picking beans at the allotment, though that could stop at any moment, but the chard, perpetual spinach, kale & Asturian Tree Cabbages will keep us going for now on the HG veg front. But I was late getting the leeks in & they won't be ready until Spring. First 25kg sack of spuds has been bought - we've been eating HG since mid-June - and I'm starting to buy onions again, though the HG garlic should last for a month or two more. Several of The Girls are still laying, too, and the New Girls (last spring's chicks) should come into lay any day. So I'm hopeful we'll get through inside the budget this month...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6 -
£145 for me please, and I've already spent £45.14.
That's for one active vegan female, just groceries and cleaning products, anything else has a separate pot. My month runs from the 27th to the 26th.
Making the most of the cheaper electricity this week with some bulk cooking, so I've made some yellow split pea soup and I'll do a chilli tomorrow. I'll get my meter reading in shortly.
Pantry is looking much healthier now I have a separate bulk fund.8 -

£200 budget for me please, 1st - 28th.
This is for two adults & three children & will have to stock up on dog treats. I was thinking about avoiding the October thread as having a difficult time at the moment but know overspending will not help things. So I’ve increased the budget abit to take some pressure off me, this will help to stock up on some freezer foods for when I don’t feel able to cook and increase how much fruit and veg I buy so I don’t feel as guilty about it!
There are also loads of apples in the hedgerows and edging footpaths round here, with a real glut - not sure where you are but boxes of apples with signs saying help yourself round here. I stew them lightly (sometimes add sugar but very little, maybe two teaspoons to four apples) and pop them in empty jars I have heated from cold to sterilise them. Using my jam funnel I then screw on the tops which pop in as they cool and then I store while they are plentiful and free to try and keep costs down a bit.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I'm going to try and stay below £100 this month to make sure there is some extra for December. £2,133.34 out of £3000 for the year so far. We are away for two weeks but I will have some big river subscription things arriving within that amount.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

£200 Grocery budget
Going to go with £200 for October 2nd - October 31st Groceries, including toiletries, for 2 adults, 2 teens and a hamster. Our anniversary is tomorrow and we're having a night out with friends, not worrying about spending until after that!
Then a separate budget of £100 for stocking up; I'm anticipating food prices rising with inflation and our freezer has space to fit some things in bulk if I find good deals.
A second separate budget of £100 for 'entertainment' food and drinks, as we have two big events coming up in October.
Also, non food related, setting a budget of £50 for winter prep; we need to make draught excluders, get a door curtain sorted, look out for a second hand electric clothes airer etc.
Anything left over is going into the main bank account to build it up.Progress over perfection9 -
I'm raising my budget this month as I've got a few lots of family coming to stay and will need extra bits and bobs for that.
£300 for the month for me please.
