Hello I’m checking out at £156.05/£150. I was under and was hoping to get some bits for a birthday meal using November’s budget but it just felt like I was leaving things too late and if I’m doing a large meal I like to prep ahead. This included a beef joint for the meat eaters at almost £13 😱😱. I’m very glad OH and I are vegetarian 😂😂
Anyhoo, over budget but not by much and our month included two lovely birthday meals for family and ingredients for two birthday cakes . All things considered I’m quite pleased with that.
See you over on November

Veg box which will be delivered on Saturday evening is now added to our total - now at £171.59/£200 so I should make it through with some money to spare I hope as I just have the one final shop of the month to do at the weekend now.
I do have to do some lateral thinking around tomorrow night's tea though as it was meant to be a chicken stew but I've since realised that I've almost certainly not got enough tatties, and as more will arrive in the veg box, I have no intention of buying more at this stage... Hmmm! I'll have a look and see what other options there might be when I get home this evening.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Do you have instant mash or tinned patties kept in the pantry for emergencies? This would count as an emergency! I keep both in store for times like this. I also use instant mash powder, with lots of herbs in it, to make the coating for Fakeaway KFC!

LOL - no, nothing like that. There IS stuff in the freezer and larder though. To be honest it might be that when we talk about it MrEH will suggest we just make it takeaway night - I've not got one of those planned in for November yet so it's doable!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Can you make a scone dough? How about making the stew into a cobbler? Form the dough into a roll 2 inches thick. Slicing 3/4 of the way though, cut it every inch, then form into a circle, fanning the “cobbles” outwards. Place on top of the hot stew, glaze with milk and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
If you don’t want to put the oven on, then just cut the scone dough all the way though and dot the “scones” over the stew and call them dumplings.
