Son in law picked up two bottles of milk for us at the weekend so total for the year is now at, £2455.95/£2640. Leaving £184.05 for the rest of 2022! I am trying to see how long i can make it last. I've started a separate thread, but will also continue to post here.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
I don't think we've overspent once it's all added up, but some of the 'diy budget' became 'entertaining' and some of the groceries became pantry items and I got very mixed up
However the bank accounts are looking about where they should be so I'm not worried, just a little annoyed because I really want to keep track better! I think in November I'll need to implement a daily 10 minutes after dinner to have a quick money talk and log everything

@FrugalThymes - I think it's fine to move money around different budgets as long as you stay within your overall budget and don't go overdrawn. I don't tend to move money from the grocery budget to other budgets but do move money between my other pots as necessary to make the "books" balance.

Had to go to B and Q today to buy a new washing line. While we were so close we nipped to Sainsburys and saved over £7.00 on brand name grocerys that I had planned to get from Tesco on my shopping order next month. I took a list of what was on my order with prices and only bought what was cheaper. Got petrol from sainsburys garage so 2 out of the 3 shops for extra 300 points. Thanks @PipneyJane, I wouldn't have bothered with Sainsburys without your info.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Went to my new fav shop as planned, with items taken off I picked up for family members I spent £15.92. Nothing was needed but just nice to haves, just going to have to stay out of this shop next month as there’s no room in the budget for this sort of splurging in November. Parked on asd% so went in there, got sardines, 1 soup and a box of boost tea that was £1 with my voucher, making the spend £1.61.£160.39/200 spent. Four days left for us.8

So no need to buy milk after a family emergency yesterday, my neighbour grabbed me some whilst she was out which I was grateful for, so if I repay from November for this weeks pizzas, we spent just under £330/£350 budget.£20 now siphoned off for Christmas food shopping budget 😏. I made mushroom pie (very basic recipe on the bbc site) and apple pie in the end - I bought a block of pastry so it made sense to use it up. Two thirds of the mushroom pie already eaten last night and the night before with butternut squash and leeks. I've also bought milk and bread, paracetamol, eggs, pasta, cucumber, tomatoes, courgettes, cooking apples and two lemon pastries (breakfast Friday and Monday as the shop had no croissant or pain au chocolat. First world problems I know but it keeps happening so I may need to find somewhere else). The mozzarella should be eaten this week so there will be a lasagne or other pasta dish at some point. I've £17.04 left. As long as it's a quiet weekend that should be ok.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

Veg box cost will hit the bank today so that puts us at £144.57/£200 - however there are another 2 shops plus a final veg box to hit during this grocery month yet - and as a result I suspect I *am* going to go over - the budget amount doesn't really work for months where there are 3 veg boxes included! I'll see how close I can get - there is plenty in the freezer (that's the understatement of the year!) in fact MrEH will have a wee bit of an issue getting the rolls he's making today in there, I think - I'll break that to him gently later.
*edit*
Honestly - I AM an idiot - there is no veg box this week (a shame because it looked like a really nice one!) as we're not at home to receive it on Saturday evening. So that means reverting back to my previous tally of £128.58/£200 for the month, and it all feeling FAR more doable!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

A small top up shop of just over £10 so GC now stands at £133.30/£250; only a week to go so should definitely be some money left to move over to the Holiday Spending pot for our holiday next month.

I'm calling it at £163.77/£145. I went a bit mad in Ald! at lunchtime. I can't resist the Christmas snacks even though it's October. I'm not in there all the time so I picked up a bottle of the cheap tonic water (55p, although I'm sure it was 49p last time) and some frozen bits.8
