Hi Spendless, I did late afternoons, evening and weekends. Some days were Home - College - Work - Home. Sometimes there was a bit of running involved to be certain of making the train, or getting from the station to work ontime. For while i had two jobs, different companies and locations, until i was able to get enough hours with only the one role. Employment for me started at 13 with a few hours after school in a local Spar. I had a variety of jobs prior to moving away at 18.
I'm not talking about having it tough. I'm talking about being very unfairly treated compared to my friends and compared to my siblings at the same stage in their lives.
I was quoting from the Monty Python 4 Yorkshire men sketch. It wasn't meant to be a comment on your post.

I didn't actually ask you for an explanation. I didn't appreciate the 🤣 either. It was obvious that it was something that I found upsetting and unfair at the time and many years on, it still rankles.

I'm sorry if you've taken offence. For the record, I read your 'care to share' comment and thought you were asking why Monty Python was mentioned. The 🤣 was because it's an amusing, comedy sketch.
I added up all of the household bills and divided by the number of people in the house. I don't need to make a "profit" from them but when they're out of education they need to pay their way. I also committed not to take more that 20% of their pay to allow them to save.
In our house that wouldn’t be fair. We have made the choice to live in an older larger property, so to expect them to pay an equal share of the high utilities and high council tax wouldn’t be right.
In any case, I wouldn’t charge my kids to live with me.
