GEUK newbie customers - What are you doing?

As the EPG discount is a taxpayer funded government subsidy it would be strange if GEUK didn't apply for it and pass it on to it's customers but then strange things do happen.0

I was outside the 14 day cooling off period, so I switched over to Octopus straight onto their standard rates.EssexHebridean said:
Can you confirm who you were able to get an SVR switch to? Or was your bale-out simply within the cooling off period so you reverted to a previous supplier?northernsparky said:I baled out on the day the price guarantee was announced - so I’m back paying svr rates. It was worth the gamble to avoid the forecast October price rise, so I don’t begrudge the small premium I paid for a few weeks.
As an E7 customer I'm eyeing up EDF as a potential option for us (we're already with them for gas so may get in there on the basis of a straight dual-fuel upgrade) but plan to sit tight for another few days to see what the situation is going to be with GEUK - my understanding is that they have indicated that they are going to do "something" but not yet what that something will be... I think it's unlikely that my 27p night rate is likely to drop significantly enough to not make EDF's 12p rate a winner, but we'll see...

As a possible guide to what GEUK may do, the following is from the Ecotricity website (Ecotricity is one of the three companies exempt from the Ofgem price cap, along with GEUK and Good Energy) in respect of the Energy Price Guarantee:
We’ll be applying this automatically to all our domestic customers, whatever tariff you are on – there’s no need for you to register or contact us in order to receive it.
As with GEUK, Good Energy have not said how, or if, they will be applying the Energy Price Guarantee.2 -
When you changed to Octopus did it take ages for your account to show your tariff? I've been with them 11 days now and it still says "this property has no tariffs."northernsparky said:

@t0rt0ise - once I downloaded the Octopus app , it showed my tariff straight away , and when I moved over to Octopus Go , the tariff showed up on the app the next time I logged on.
I would contact them to see what is happening
- ps , I’ve been with them 11 days today as well 😎0 -
Thanks. I've emailed them although they take time to answer.northernsparky said:@t0rt0ise - once I downloaded the Octopus app , it showed my tariff straight away , and when I moved over to Octopus Go , the tariff showed up on the app the next time I logged on.

hey pal, was you also on GEUK and then switched to octopus? If so what made you switch to octopus out of everyone else and did you simply go onto their website to switch?t0rt0ise said:

Recently, Octopus have been one of the few accepting switches - and only when contacted directly by phone I think - not by signing up online.1

You can join Octopus via phone, email or via DM on Twitter, I joined them via Twitter you can't do it via their website but if you contact them they will set up a switch for you.Deleted_User said:Recently, Octopus have been one of the few accepting switches - and only when contacted directly by phone I think - not by signing up online.0
