We need to know the actual starting reading. Did you send regular or other readings during that time?

They are estimating a 4 digit reading and you have recently given them a 5 digit reading

Could you have mistyped the reading when given?

I.e. is your actual reading  21916 or is it 2191.6

That is 84 kwh a day over 239 days, is that possible even with electric heating?
  • So Iv just taken a picture of the meter reading when I moved to the property. I gave this to sse when I moved in. Did they make a mistake on their end?

I'm in agreement with those that think there's something very wrong with that opening reasing of 1794.
What reading did your Housing Officer give you in May last year when you moved in?
    EDIT: we cross-posted.
The reading from your Housing Officer is 17821. There's the problem.
In the entire time you were with SSE, May 2021 to august 2022, you used (21916-17821= ) 4095kWh, not the 20122kWh that they have billed you for.
It looks to me as though SSE dodn't record your opening meter reading correctly, and one digit was missing.

Is that a lot or less? Sorry these kwh things confuse me.

Yes its 17821 not the 1794 that you are being billed from.

you have been overcharged by £3192
  • What do I do now? Sorry I’m just so lost when it comes to those things. Do I contact sse and tell them the first reading they have when I moved in is incorrect?

    Yes.
Can you post a photo of your previous bill(s), not just the most recent one?
