What is the 2nd set of figures please ..is that if I didn’t have E7 ??
approx £2200 is a lot better than I was expecting , and is affordable to me thankfully
my heat cost may be less this winter as it was on a lot last winter , as my cat is 20 and feels the cold , I’ve bought him a heated pad now thou and a cave bed , so he should be snuggly without the heating on so much

Yes, the second set of figures are for the single rate (non-E7) tariffs.

Are you paying a second standing charge for the afternoon boost? I used to pay 2 standing charges for that but it was on E10. Thankfully I got a free switch to E7 by having a smart meter installed. Before energy crisis was even starting a year ago. This is my first time with storage heaters and I find them ok but costly maybe as mine are old. 1993 flat with storage heaters of same age. I mostly used one last year to heat whole flat as two on was expensive even then. I’m used to GCH though and no gas now so hot water is an issue we it’s immersion on off peak for two hours.Still working it all out.0

I was initially paying 2 standing charges when I went with EDF , but they refunded the money paid nowAliceBanned said:Are you paying a second standing charge for the afternoon boost? my heaters were in when I bought this property in 1995 , and they were a few years old then !
I like my heaters , they work well for me , I’m a early riser and it’s lovely and warm when I get up …1 -
That’s good Rosie. Must say I miss the afternoon tariff a bit, mainly for hot water but I have stopped having evening baths. Too expensive as often need to boost the hot water. Heating wise I can use the convector bit on heater if I’m up late and it starts getting chilly.Rosie1001 said:AliceBanned said:Are you paying a second standing charge for the afternoon boost? I like the storage heaters too, they give a lot of ambient heat if I only need one for the whole flat. My main bedroom has a balcony and patio doors so is freezing in winter as it’s furthest from the heat. It has its own tiny convector heater which doesn’t seem to do a lot just gets it above 14 degrees lol.0 -
Using convectors on E7 or E10 just makes no sense, it's better to adjust the input and output on the NSH's if heat is not being retained into the evening. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I will try this but I seem to lose heat from the bigger bedroom with balcony and that is furthest from the NSH. The flat has always had wall mounted convectors in the bedrooms and there is a NSH in hallway but I think having both NSHs on this year will cost too much . I tended to only use the hallway one when it’s below freezing. maybe worth me buying an oil filled radiator for the bedroom. The second bedroom is tiny and I use to work from home as the convector quickly warms it. By convector I mean panel heater if that’s the same thing.0 -
Sorry not Sooty😅0
