Storage heaters cost ….
did a screen shot of my meter yesterday before I put the heaters on , then read it today
I’ve used 16 units
so based on north east EDF economy 7 it will Cost approx £2.25 a night with out vat added and standing charge to heat my home ..have I worked this out correctly
I do get a afternoon boost of 2 hours but I turn my heaters off unless it’s really cold as I don’t need this usually , I will check how much the boost costs when I next keep them on

Where are you located? I'm surprised anyone has started using storage heaters yet at this cost0

How many storage heaters?0

@Rosie1001 On the first night after being shutdown for some months you will be heating up from cold and the kWh may well be higher that a more usual night in the winter.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

I’m in Newcastle … I’m not well , and I’m freezing all the time , that’s the only reason they are on at min ..we are made of hard stuff up here … don’t normally put then on until November at the earliest
I’ve got 2 large older style heaters

If you are working from the EDF rate table VAT is already included.0

Re the afternoon boost, are you sure? This would suggest Economy 10 or similar.
We use two Dimplex Duoheat and a Quantum and used 1300 units in the worst month last winter (January).0 -
This shows 1 day and 16 units at night. All rates are from the EPG EDF Chart.I'm not sure that 1 nights usage has any meaning ?0 -

That also suggests Economy 10 or one of the legacy "complex metering" arrangements. If the OP has this but is on an E7 tariff they're doing quite well; they get extra hours at the cheap rate.N. I found it was cheaper to use convectors for a short rather than storage heaters when it 1st gets cold.Rosie1001 said:did a screen shot of my meter yesterday before I put the heaters on , then read it today

I maybe have convector on for 5 to10 mins then off.
If you have convectors try that?1 -
I definitely get the boost … all my electric goes onto cheaper rate for 2 hours in afternoon if my storage heaters are on or offFairzo said:Re the afternoon boost, are you sure? This would suggest Economy 10 or similar.
