don’t understand what you mean …I was just testing approx cost per night to heat my home …philipbin said:
This shows 1 day and 16 units at night. All rates are from the EPG EDF Chart.I'm not sure that 1 nights usage has any meaning ?philipbin said:

Hi @Rosie1001 your question was:"so based on north east EDF economy 7 it will Cost approx £2.25 a night with out vat added and standing charge to heat my home ..have I worked this out correctly"The rate you've used (13.92p/kWh) includes VAT but is the correct rate for EDF E7 night time use in the NE. So you're correct to say that 16kWh will cost you about £2.25 without taking the standing charge into account, but wrong to say this includes VAT.As others have pointed out, you don't (normally) get a boost with E7 so it could be (a) you're not actually on an E7 tariff, or (b) you might have a timeswitch that is switching the storage heaters on in the afternoon but actually using full cost electricity to heat them up, or (c) something else

I am definitely on a e7 tariff , but the supplier can’t do anything about the afternoon boost until my meter is changed , so all my home electric goes on a cheaper rate for 2 hours1 -

when it comes to cold weather , I will do a week comparisonThe direct debit on the night rate chart shows that the standing charge for 1 day is 50p, the charge for 16 units on the night rate is £2.23 so the total charge is £2.73 on the direct debit rates. It's interesting that the total charge for 16 night units on the PAYG would be £1.96 and on the Prepayment it would be £1.91.All rates include VAT.To get any meaningful figures you would really need to know how many day units you use and how many night units you use in a year.0 -
