Using between 3 and 4 KWH's per day of electric when we're on holiday !
I'm with Octopus Energy. We have a SMETS 1 smart meter but no IHD. According to Octopus's app, we're using just over 3 KWH of electric per day, when we're not in. We were on holiday 130 miles away from home. All our plugs were off at the wall except our fridgefreezer was running. It was purchased last summer and uses 280 kwh's per year according to Samsung's specification. Its A++ rated. Our small fishtank was running. Its cold water. Has a filter/pump but no heat. Even our Virgin modem was off. No gas use was registered naturally. Any suggestions about how to cut this down or anyone experienced similar ? We use around 8 kwh per day when we're at home and don't do washing of clothes for example.
Thanks all

Are you getting half-hourly charts from Octopus? Can you see when during the day you are using the energy? Is it pretty constant, or is it lumpy?

What wattage is your fishtank filter. Mine is 40w, so uses .96 kWh a day. Its light is 20w, on 12 hours a day (240w). So a daily 1.22 kWh for the fishtank. My fridge freezer and alarm use just over 2 kWh a day. Your daily 3 kWh sounds about right.

The use is constantly the same throughout the day.0

I don't know what the weird spike is at 9pm is? I've no idea what fish tank filter wattage I'm afraid. The light wasn't on. I guess all these little bits add up 😨0

If you only had your FF and fishtank on (and maybe your house alarm), then the spike around 8pm would be your FF's cooling kicking in and the constant is both running.2

We had a 3.5 hr power cut when I was last on holiday in June, but the smart meter said power was in use at this time.1

Like all technology, smart meter's mobile or IHD readings can sometimes be up the wall. The meters just send meter readings to your energy company at a predefined interval. If there is a gremlin at this time, it can show false info.

No, but someone rang the doorbell - with the current energy charges this should be illegal.

I have no house alarm. No cameras. No fancy doorbell. No outdoor lights that run off electric.0
