If anyone has the British Gas October price cap rates and EPG rates, be interesting to know if they've done the same - just taken a flat 17.85p off the VAT inclusive Oct price cap rates to get the EPG rates?

    17p + VAT = 17.85p

If you subtract 17.85p from the Ofgem October rates for electrcity you get the EPG rates. This is true for standard meters and both day and night rates for E7 meters across all regions for DD.

Hmm - I thought the cap and freeze prices quoted always included VAT - could this be an inadvertent pre-announcement on the removal of VAT from utility bills in the mini-budget next Friday...
    I think....

  • What is pay as you go tariff ….

it’s nearly half the price of what I pay for my night tariff in the north east for EDF

    I pay direct debit

  • See my post at the end of page 3 of this thread - it’s smart meter prepayment.

If you have a smart meter already, don't pay your bill and go into debt and they will put you onto it.  :#  and move to the SE region. :/

First thing to do is look at the day rates and standing charges for your area and see if you really would be better overall. If so, you can then decide whether you'd prefer whatever saving you might make or the convenience of a monthly DD (either fixed or the full amount owing). After that, I suggest you contact EDF and ask them what their policy is - i.e. what the cost of changing is (if any) and whether they allow this at all. Clearly the last post is tongue-in-cheek - getting yourself into debt just to get one has all kinds of implications for your credit rating and could effect you very badly for many years to come. (And who the hell would want to live in the SE  ?)
