East Midlands and South East for all payment options, but also many of the other regions on pre-payment.

Yes, something significant has changed somewhere and I find myself scratching my head again. There are much bigger regional differences than before. In some region PAYG rates are lower than DD. I guess this will all be explained in an Ofgem press release and/or spreadsheet at some point.

It almost seems too good to be true for me. At these rates my October bills will be 20%ish LESS than they would have been at April rates. And we may even see VAT taken off too next week.
  • For all the well deserved stick that EdF get about their billing systems and customer service sometimes, having low night rates, particularly for pre-payment customers, seems to me like a laudable decision.

Where are people getting these EDF rates from, there is nothing on my account re new rates?
    From here:
    I'm in southern region and get 15.11p/kWh night / 43.16p/kWh day / 44.5p/day SC.
Well that makes sense my electric seems to be down from 31.6 to 30.1 and gas from 13 to 12. Go figure
    I think....

Have EDF just knocked 17p/kWh off each of the day and night rates? This meets the EPG conditions but, because night was cheaper to begin with, makes the difference seem more extreme?

There are some really odd mixes:

East Mids DD - 47.31p day and 6.90p night

Yorkshire DD - 40.88p day and 15.82p night
    but
Yorkshire PAYG - 44.31p day and 9.29p night
    and
Yorkshire Cash - 44.33p day and 17.14p night

.... and why are the PAYG numbers in the first table different from the Prepayment in the 2nd table in many cases?

Do EDF have a different meaning for PAYG vs Prepayment?

Ofgem cap rates for October were day 65.16p and night 24.75p for DD East Midlands. Taking off 17p would give 48.16p and 7.75p - not too far away from the 47.31p and 6.90p they're set at by the EPG - I haven't checked other regions but looks like you may be on to something...

I hadn't even looked at that second page.  Odd.

According to EdF - PAYG is smart meter prepayment, but Prepayment is conventional meter prepayment.

@QrizB gets the prize for working it out

    17p + VAT = 17.85p

If you subtract 17.85p from the Ofgem October rates for electrcity you get the EPG rates. This is true for standard meters and both day and night rates for E7 meters across all regions for DD.

Good find, but that makes the difference even more strange as they are shifting the balance between day/night on E7 in some but not all of the regions
