lovely post to read, great you have your parents still around to enjoy spending time with, I look back on time spent with my in laws on holiday very fondly so am glad we were able to do it when we were all healthy.

As with everything, balance is key.   You are an astute business man so you will have applied the same reasonable level head to your household finances.   As you are old enough to have seen interest rate fluctuations and are realistic enough to take heed of those even older than you that lived through the15% mortgages, im sure you have looked at servicing your mortgage if interest rates are up when any current deal comes to an end plus if any drop in business income happens around the same time - worst case scenario planning.   But if all that stacks up and you are searching for best price for any holidays you decide to take, cashback cards or deals etc, aren't spending money on things you could get cheaper or monthly outgoings that you aren't really using any more, have savings in place for the home improvements you intend doing etc etc then you are in a perfect place to go as many breaks as you can.  Go them, enjoy them, look forward to them and look back on them, lovely happy times

Fabulous to see you moving into this new phase of life.

While clearing debts is a good thing I think doing things as a family is more important while your son is still young. There will come a time when either parents become embarrassing and he won't want to be with you or simply he wants to do his own thing and be with his mates. Enjoy your time as a family so you all have good memories no matter what happens in the future.

    You can't please everyone.

You are doing great. Looking forward to hearing about your holidays.

We have cancelled our summer holiday this year so we can concentrate on getting the new house in some sort of order but we do intend to head across to Europe again later in the year for a couple of weeks. We are heading to Poland this year.

I'm intrigued about your 2028 plans now.

Even we don't plan that far ahead 🤣🤣🤣

Well done Alt, for those that matter you've changed for the better.

We've also got our 2028 holiday in mind, it'll be our 25th wedding anniversary, and it'll also be the very first proper holiday my Husband and I have ever had on our own.
