Ripped off big time by 'energy saving' company

This is what I would do
1) read your contract see if you can end it and what if any penalty there is2) take a water meter reading and work out how much you should have been charges since taking residence3) take energy readings and work out the charges you should have been charged (presuming it's not a business tariff the supply is on)
4) work out what you would pay for the other included items.
5) work this all out of annual usage and present the issue to who you have the contract with and advice them if you think they are profiteering from energy resale and point out that is illegal.0 -

In this type of arrangement who gets the £150 , £400 ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

On the third page and we still don't know any of the basic facts.DanS1 said:Recently moved Into a 1 bed flat.Your flat will have had an EPC. How much energy per year does your EPC say you should expect to use?
Got a few phone calls and emails from a company that basically consolidates all your bills (energy, broadband, TV Licence and water) into one monthly payment, in my case just under £400.
And what exactly do you get for your £400pm?"Broadband" covers a huge range of possibilities, from a £20pm basic contract to a £100+ full-fibre entertainment package.Did you choose "unlimited" energy or "capped"? Rolling or fixed?I've just gone through their sign-up process as a one-person household and they're quoting me:- Unlimited energy: £60.69/week
- Unlimited water: £7.31/week
- Full fibre broadband: £7/44/week (no entertainment package)
- TV licence: £3.05/week
- OUB fee: £2.01/week
A total of £348.70/month.The website also says that my account will receive the £400 government credit. and the total calculated does not include this.DanS1 said:Why? Are you paying a company more than what you otherwise would?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

I’ve just gone through it and notice it has an unlimited option and a called option for energy usage. Clearly the OP chose unlimited. It seems to be a bit weird to complain he only used £70 worth when he could have sat around using £700 worth if he wanted and would have been charged the same.0

Drip feeds answers /responds sporadically and threads go to multiple pages with very little resolution.
If true then OP appears to make very impulsive purchases/decisions which he then regrets. Or is extremely vulnerable.
Hopefully if this is true then he will answer the above bullet point questions which have been presented in a really nice way and people can help him out0 -
OP got "ripped off" when buying a car in his previous post just a week or so ago and then realising he had nowhere to park it and it didn't take the right fuel fo him. Now been ripped off again on this one.
Oh boy, that's some thread. Spends £4000 on a car, gets home, can't find a parking space, also decides the engine is too big, the car is too posh, and he doesn't really need a car anyway since he works from home. And the same thing happened three years ago, when he bought the same model of car! What absolute drivel.

You might regret your purchase but you haven't been ripped off.1
