Ripped off big time by 'energy saving' company

Recently moved Into a 1 bed flat. Got a few phone calls and emails from a company that basically consolidates all your bills (energy, broadband, TV Licence and water) into one monthly payment, in my case just under £400. So instead of paying my suppliers, I would pay this company a fixed price and they would pay my suppliers. It sounded really good, and I was told as I'm alone in a 1 bedroom flat my bills would be more than other people's and I'd be saving, especially with prices going up next month. I signed up with it and paid my first instalment this week. However, I received my first energy bill (not sure why) and it says it's only £70. I tried ringing the energy saving company to say I've changed my mind and want to pay my suppliers direct as it will actually be a lot cheaper for me, but I struggle to get through to anyone and when I do they make out they don't know what I'm talking about.

Name of the company? Terms of the contract with regard to putting up your monthly figure if needed?

And have you checked the energy bill, whether it’s based on the readings you gave them or an estimate?
Does the property have gas or is it all electric?
Also it will be cheaper at the moment because of the time of year. Not needing lights on till later not having heating on yet?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

What period does the bill cover and is it based on actual meter readings or estimates...
In general, it should always be cheaper to pay your own bills than to pay someone else to do it for you, but for now let's focus on that energy bill...

A quick scan of your post history doesn't reveal you talking about this company/deal before.

More details as requested above, please note no one is allowed to resell energy at a profit unless they hold the relevent licenses. But it could be you are overpaying for the other things in the bundle.

If it is Utility Warehouse then please provide the contract details and price each months for each item you took and your actual energy usage since you moved in.

This sounds something like The Bunch or One Utility Bill - hope you are able to extricate yourself from them, OP.

and what about the broadband, TV Licence and water  - when will they appear on your statement ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • I have a feeling that this is something similar to https://oneutilitybill.co/services

  • I'm with UW, I don't think they offer TV licence and water....

Odds are that there is a service fee separate from the actual energy costs, or they are properly licenced as a supplier...
We'll know more if the OP shares the name of the company...
  • Also why would your bills be more than other peoples just because you're alone in a 1 bed flat?
