there is a biker group in swansea that i support, they do a lot for the homless from their club house...breakfast club ...a soup kitchen on a thursday night etc....
when i started my business...which has something to do with textiles etc.... i started putting suitable clothing, boots and blankets etc to one side.... and taking them to the centre....
when you are taking clothing.... it is pointless taking jeans etc which is bigger than a size 36 inch waist..... as on the whole the homless are quite slim etc..
not all homeless are druggies.. alchies..etc.....even if this is the general image people get....
and the ones that drink alot ...why...possibly because of some tragedy ..family break up etc...
and did you know that a homesless person on the streets is not classed as priority.. when it comes to trying to get a roof over their heads....
if that isnt nothing is...
at the end of the day.. we should not judge them.... until we get to know the reasons.....
some people are addicted to drugs.... booze..... gambling..... spending.... buying shoes.... choclate.... bingo.... even mse......lol....
but i am one of those who choose to support and donate basic items such as clothes blankets etc..Work to live= not live to work0 -
To be honest, the biggest problem that you'll face in housing someone is if they've had a conviction for arson, irrespective of what happened and how long ago. That's the big one, if you have that then you'll really struggle to get them in anywhere.
I think I can sort of understand that though.......:eek:You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0 -
I am also looking to help out in a homeless soup kitchen or something similar this christmas. I know it may be a bit late this year but I can try!! I've tried the local salvation army office who couldn't help. Would anyone else be able to help???On a mission0

Try your local volunteer bureau, but do it quick as they may well be shut from midday tomorrow ... a google for Volunteer Doncaster might come up with something.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I certainly didn't post for a reaction. It's a fact of life.
Show me evidence of one homeless person out on the streets who is NOT a drug addict
Donating to Crisis is a good thing, handing over money to homeless people on the street fuels addiction and the drug industry which consequently fuels terrorism.
i was homeless on the street and wasn't/am not a drug addict BUT sleeping outside never mind sleeping outside in subzero conditions would drive anyone to drink and drugs.
your a !!!!!! mate0 -
There *is* an abundance of money and resources as you say. When people can donate £1,095,223.50 to one little girl they never met or knew who may in fact be dead (being realistic given the amount of time and lack of firm evidence to the contrary) http://www.findmadeleine.com/ you have to wonder why they can't so readily do that for homeless people.
Homelessness isn't all that much of an issue anymore - people who need housing get it. The only people I see who are homeless go to the needle exchange/drug clinic near the city centre and hang around outside there drinking white lightening (although I think the Police probably move them on now) and the Big Issue office is conveniently located closeby. The Big Issue is a front for people who have somewhere to go home at night (none of them sleep rough) to get drug money which in turn funds terrorism.
Give to homeless charities who *hopefully* know what to do with the money, not the drugged up homeless people.
sorry your not a !!!!!! your a complete and utter @rsehole.
I suppose you think that everyone on benefits is a dole scrounger that doesn't want to work?0 -
an interesting link.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2007/dec/15/tvnews.television
just goes to prove it can happen to anyone.. and not all homless people have an addiction to something..
this guy was on gmtv a week or so ago....
its like me saying that everyone who has a credit card is up to their eyeballs in debt....
people should see the whole picture before making asumptions...Work to live= not live to work0 -
