Does anyone know which banks allow you to withdraw cash (from this credit card)  direct to current account ?
Topping up an account from a card is a relatively niche feature, where offered it'll almost always be limited to debit cards only.

The best method I'd have thought would be to withdraw cash from an ATM using this credit card then pay it in at a branch or Post Office.

All travel perks will be removed on 2 December 2024. So there will be charges for currency exchange and cash withdrawals now. No point having this ancient card anymore.

Any other cards that will let you withdraw EUR abroad for free if balance is paid in full monthly?

    As above.
Also, if you are a regular visitor to Spain and the Canaries I recommend a basic Santander UK debit card which can be used at a fully branded Banco Santander ATM located at a branch to withdraw Euros without any fees. Don't use standalone machines which carry the Santander logo though - I can explain that aspect in more detail if you are interested. Don't use contactless or PIN to settle bills at bars, restaurants or hotels etc. - that incurs a fee.
Of course, being a debit card there is no "in the red" monthly balance.
The ideal account is a Santander Everyday current account - no strings attached such as direct debits or minimum monthly pay ins,

RIP Sainsburys Gold Travel Credit Card.  It was never the same without the travel insurance.

  • Took a battering in Euros for the twelve years so it's sad to see it go. Never had quite the same sparkle after the insurance removal but was still a decent zero fee travel card. After the notification debacle two years ago it was just a matter of time.

I opened a SGC when it first came out - "that's too good to be true" my initial reaction.....well worth £5 per month.
Specifics are a bit vague now, however I managed to find details online.
If memory serves, the included travel insurance benefit ended at age 65 (?) so we ditched the card at the appropriate time.
Sainsburys must have realised the deal was indeed too generous and pulled it relatively quickly for new applicants, although existing account holders were allowed to continue.
I didn't know that the travel cover had been subsequently withdrawn - at that point it must have become unattractive to those legacy clients ?

I still have the original flyer from November 2012!  That's when I applied for the card.

The last £5 insurance payment was November 2017.  Maximum age is indeed 65.
