They say I will use 22,000 kw of gas! How is this even possible? We only use gas for hot water and heating. I’m terrified!

Easily possible... Heating the home is the biggest user of gas, followed by heating water (i.e. showers and bath).

We are all creatures of habit, dark nights kick in a slight chill comes in the air and we put the heating on automatic 20*C and we let it do it's thing from September to March.
I would change the thermostat setting to 17*C and if you can, move it to the room you and your family spend the most time in during winter. Don't leave it in a cold and draughty hallway as the room will never get up to temperature and the heating will be on all day.
Even better than that is to manually turn the heating on and manually turn it off when you feel the cold, even then you may get away with a jumper and a blanket on the settee if it's only you in the house.

If you or family members have the shower running for an hour to make it a steam room before they get in stop that and time your showers to 5 minutes.

If you have an old boiler +20 or so year's) a new one could benefit you in usage savings.
Smaller things you can do is change the boiler water setting to 40*c.
Change the boiler flow setting to economic setting.

As for you electric it's high some good points mentioned already, you don't have an electric shower by any chance? Or an immersion heater?

As a challenge to beat this other forum members 58 second shower I got my hot electric shower  down to 32 secs and could go a few secs lower if I tried .

Method is the on /off just to rinse and rinse off taking as long as I like, no rush, no waste of metered water .
Important  though is before you switch the shower back on for the final rinse is to give the pull switch a quick off and on .
I don t know why this works but it stops that long cold or scalding hot that my shower does and is at the correct temp in a few seconds.

Shower is a £50 Screwfix 8kw Triton Enrich model..So the 8 kw shower is only producing hot water for between 30 and 40 secs ! beat that . 5 mins is wasteful luxury
