Gas consumtion

First step is to check use. You say "how is that possible" but is it the same amount you used last year? If so then it certainly is possible. If it's not then you need to query why they've chosen that consumption.14diamondcat said:They say I will use 22,000 kw of gas! How is this even possible? We only use gas for hot water and heating. I’m terrified!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
How many hrs do you put on the heating and what temp? Is it set to Eco if a combi?
I presume you don't use timers and just twist the dial to 15 when going out and to bed.0 -
I would love solar panels but cannot raise any money to purchase and even if I could my council had decided my road is now in a conservation area which means we cannot have solar panels (only Victorian terraces) - it was not conservation area when I moved here. What is even more annoying is that I have a brilliant roof for panels (but faces the road) and their directive seems to contradict their push for everyone to have solar panels!Krakkkers said:If electricity does hit £1 a kwh surely solar panels are a must, if you can afford them and if you can get a quote.0 -
Unless your PD rights have been withdrawn via an Article 4 direction, then solar panels are usually permitted with a conservation area. You may need PP though..No free lunch, and no free laptop

We cannot change the windows unless they are approved wooden single glazing exactly the same as original and secondary double glazing. All the facade has to look identical to original even to them trying to insist the bricks had to be sand blasted to remove over a hundred years of ageing. Front walls have to be put back to original with railings and iron gates if they need repair. No security cameras, sky dishes etc etc. Guttering go back to iron and so on. They come round to check periodically and take photos - one nice conservation man said that as long as he could not tell the difference repairs to front wall/gate could be done. A new person moved into the road and had to jump through hoops with many restrictions and expense……….. I think the conservation department would go bang if solar panels were mentionedmacman said:Unless your PD rights have been withdrawn via an Article 4 direction, then solar panels are usually permitted with a conservation area. We don't know for sure it's one unit on the meter or one unit meaning 1 kWh.Krakkkers said:1 unit of gas (11.2kwh) will be for hot water i presume but that should heat the tank twice really.
16 -23 kwh of electricity is a lot, you have to find out where that is going.0
