I'm cutting down on gas costs. Prices to high to pay for central heating. I'm sorry it has come to this but I'm only on a basic income and gas now is it for the rich. I'm looking for the best tent I can fit in my bedroom that will keep me warm without paying enormous gas prices. Uk government need to be held account. Most electricity should come from nuclear power and gas comes the north sea. Just my opinion and I understand opinions vary.

you would probably be better investing in lined curtains for your bedroom or lounge (or do what i did last recession and pin thin blankets to the inside of the existing ones) a decent sleeping bag and a good draft excluder. a tent will encourage you to stay still and lie down but heating one room/keeping it at temperature when heated will be almost as cheap while still encouraging you to move around in that room and keep the blood flowing. i know less dramatic but more practical.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.2 -

A devent duvet will be a better investment than a tent.
I'm no fan of this government, but what do you expect them to do about global gas prices?

Its strange how a government with an 80 seat majority seemingly had no one vote for it.7

almost as strange as thinking having the other lot in would make much difference after the last few years and state of the energy network. i think they've all had a go over the last 40 years to get us where we are. now we've just got to get on with it as best we can.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Thermal PJs? Bedsocks? Hat?
What do you usually wear in bed and what tog rating is your winter duvet? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
David,
What might make a low-cost less invasive and intrusive but similar heat saving solution is buying a telescopic curtain rail and pair of extra curtains and fit them behind your main curtains in the window recess. We have done this for sound insulation purposes but it also helps retain heat and provide a sort of soft double glazing barrier.
Best wishes.5 -
My electric blanket uses 15w on the lowest setting and that is too warm for all night.2

As stated by MattMattMattUK above we don't own it any more. The current problems started 40+ years ago when the government sold off our energy security, the North Sea oil and gas reserves, to the highest bidder to fund a low tax regime. This has been a policy supported by parties of all colours. A case of jam today and worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Unfortunately that has now come back to bite us on the bum. Some states still control their energy reserves so their people get to enjoy low energy prices whilst the state benefits from the current global market price for exports.

Tents are only designed to keep the rain and wind off you. Do you get either in your bedroom?
Electric blanket (with variable wattage) and continental or hollow fibre quilt is the obvious way to go.3
