blackshadowuk said:There there seems to be huge variations in the payments from $70 something right up to $350. Trying to work out how they do their calcs. Unless the $70 was for one week and the $350 was for a month. We have to remember that this has affected people from almost every country in the world.
Glad I’m not Russian trying to cash a cheque in US$..
I always ordered the smallest car as I know these are not available in Orlando so in the 30+ times I visited always got an upgrade, sometimes to a luxury car.
My 2008/2009 visits were usually 2 or 3 weeks, so I can only assume that the large payments were for two visits of 2 weeks duration.0 -
I’m certainly not complaining. From not having anything to having 3 payments for doing absolutely nothing how could anyone complain. My wife took the cheque into the bank this morning ( After finding one that’s still open). Now just wait and see how much I get. Then wait and see what happens with PayPal.That’s very crafty ordering a budget car , I wish I’d thought about that. But then we only went once a year to Daytona for the bike racing.0

I received my email (16 August) today from PureCard telling me I have received "a £298.89 virtual prepaid card". It seems that others have already registered using the card ID and last 4 digits that are provided within the email. Does anyone know if you can transfer the funds to your existing bank account? Having a virtual credit card was not my first choice. I wanted to have the money paid into my PayPal account but it kept returning an error message, which made me wonder initially whether I was being pushed into a corner and only being able to select a virtual prepaid card because it was a scam?0

After I registered the card with PureCard, to overcome the problem of spending EXACTLY £295.23 on a debit card I paid that amount into my gas/electricity account.
I would think that you could do this with any account that accepts such payments including PayPal1 -
Took the cheque into HSBC yesterday and was told the charges were anything below £100 would be £9 and anything above £100 would be £19. So looks like £19 charge as the amount was $154.70. Likely to get about £100 which is what I initially thought.1

As I reported a couple of days ago I received a cheque for $126 which I paid into Lloyds. The exchange rate made the value about £99 of which £96 has been credited to my account. Quite happy with this. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum from the begging. I was encouraged it was not a scam and made a claim last year.
Very useful forum.
I chose a cheque by the way as I did not have to give any bank details (was still not sure about the scam element at that stage) and they already had my name and address.0 -

No bank is going to certify a cheque that easily as it could easily be faked.0 -
Received $149.66 into my PayPal account a short time ago which exchanged into GBP comes to £113.71. Nicely timed for my car service tomorrow.0

Has anybody opted for the "pay into bank account" and, if so, been contacted to ask for account details?0

So for two 10 day periods of hire, one in 2008 the other 2009 I got a payment of $74.83 in my PayPal account. So I’m better off than I was but not a whole lot! Looks like maybe an e-card was the way to go.The good news is for others that PayPal is starting to happen.0
