Home made chocolate slabs

I think clingfilm would leave lines all over the base of the slab which wouldnt look too good and it would be quite difficult to get set chocolate out of a baking tray without breaking it.
Greaseproof paper might work if you were able to cut it exactly to size. Maybe a springform tin if you lined the sides too as it would be much easier to then slide it off the base.
You could also maybe use a plastic tub like ones you get from a takeaway, a lunch box, or one that ready meals come in as they would be more flexible than a baking tray and it might pop out of them easier.

I made a chocolate slab at Christmas in a baking tin lined with clingfilm. It came out of the tin really easily, the clingfilm came off the chocolate easily and I don't remember it leaving any lines. I was impressed how easy it was! HTHsaving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Cool if it works like that then. Would save going to buy trays especially for them.

if you really want a nice slab shape then silicone "baking trays" will give the best effect, a small loaf tine is prob the best size they're in tesco for about £4 at the mo but should be able to get cheaper if you put the effort in (we talked about in more detail at the start of this thread)0

Ive just stumbled across this thread. What a fab idea it is too!
Im thinking of doing this for easter and birthdays. Obviously not to the same people for both! Sounds like i could save some money.
Ive got £6 in my paypal account for quidco so that will pay for the cello bags. Im all excited. I might give it ago for valentines day! something a bit different.
Im going to trawl through the pages now to find out where the best places are to get things from and what methods work! Dont want to have any wastage!0 -

I've sent chocs to New York several times before with no problems.
Not home made ones but I doubt it makes any difference. All you need to write on the customs form is 'chocolate gift' or something similar.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
